I recommended you get rid of the clean out cap but you've been told enough and you've made your mind up. Personally I think one day it'll fly off, I guess if you shoulder the cannon it wont be so bad, just don't stand behind it.

I'd guess you'd get slightly more that 3/8 mile... Mine shoots a bouncey ball that far but its barrel is ten feet. Yours would make up for this by using golfballs.
