for what its worth

although you have to heat both parts ftg and pipe it helps to throw a little more heat on the pipe .

smacking or knocking off the fitting in a strait line is usually a lot less work than pulling apart.

keep an eye on your heat it's way too easy to make every thing soft.

I have a Oehler 35 P I picked up at a second store (goodwill) for 50$(U.S.).

It does a few more things than a standard chronograph.
so its somewhat overkill for spudguns and airguns but helps with load development when reloading or checking out factory ammunition.

for a few years muzzle loading shooters have been using plastic sabots instead of patches.
similar to a plastic shot cup replacing wads in a shotgun shell.
Although the 243 is a good buy the bullets from the main bullet manufactures for reloading will have a copper jacket .

The sloan valves have a very long piston and are designed to prevent water hammer. They are piloted, but are generally slow.

The contained in a pressure tank retrofit for home traditional toilets may be something to consider. I'll have to look into them more.
