As Gun Freak said, you can make a piston with an o-ring to solve this issue. You can use a piston without an o-ring with good results. I have one on a cannon im working on and it works great. But it has to be tight enough

Well leaking isnt my main concern. Like Fnord said, its a weak point. Especially with that piston slamming into it. Could potentially break or pop off the cannon.
