I would add some kind of lever to the valve handle for easier/faster opening.

Unfortunately, some of the fittings you used are not pressure-rated, so don't use that above 30-40 psi. other than that, well done; the setup is certainly unique.

Considering you have a already have a union, I would also try to use that as a 2x (no higher) hybrid I do not know the thickness or the limitations of the metal however.

It still depends, they most likely have different wall thicknesses, try to look that up.
