Re: First part of my first real build acquired
thanks jack, shatterhand was obviously inspiration . Valves are something I'm still struggling to comprehend the mechanics of, but what I'm more worried about is making a chamber that will both compliment the size of the barrel in a handy package while still maintaining enough space insider and stre...

First part of my first real build acquired
A .45 percussion pistol barrel. Measures about 10.5 inches overall, roughly 8 inches muzzle to breech. Haven't measured the bore exactly because I don't have the tools to, but I'm going to buy some .457 and .451 round balls and see how tight the fit is with a patch. Going to try and maintain a somew...

Re: Are suppressors illegal for pneumatic launchers?
ATF is only interested in prosecuting, financial ruining, and shooting the dogs of lawful firearm owners. they don't really care about airguns. Now if you own firearms and a suppressor for an airgun, that Can't speak for some overzealous cop though. Many people are very ignorant to airgun noise leve...

Re: Semi auto loader mechanism: will it work?
I've been pondering something similar to OP based on on a short stroke gas system. BBs have a relatively loose fit as far as projectiles go. would this system viable on lead balls?

co2 caplets
was just looking at em and wondered if anyone ever bothered shooting them. Decent shape and light but big, could always fill em with something for weight.

Re: Lil' Shatterhand buildlog
How exactly did you construct the "lock"? if I'm looking at it right, the energy of the hammer falling is actuating the hammer valve. I don't have access to a lot of tools and I'd rather modify a lock (I have one in mind) than construct one from scratch.

Re: Side-actuated release valve
never thought about how many similarities it acually has to the giradoni system. I mean obviously I've looked at it for inspiration but I guess I didn't realize the similarities. Obviously mine isn't quite as sophisticated or polished. turn the barrel 45 degrees and its basically my design except th...

Re: Side-actuated release valve
I'll see if I can get the scanner working and upload a sketch later today. It is designed to be a repeater cammy, a "hammervalve" if I have my terminology correct. its not a coaxial however because the reservoir is in the butt of the gun. flintlock looking magazine-fed flush package IE minimal exter...

Side-actuated release valve
my regular computer died and this one has trouble viewing a lot of the attachments here. I tried to avoid flat out asking "how do I do this" kinda questions but valves seem the be one thing I can't wrap my head around and It doesn't help that I'm a hands on learner. What is the best way to actuate a...

Re: PSI levels and tanks
Well I didn't have a specific one in mind yet. I was planning on using c02 for this particular gun but with the weather here, a PCP is an infinitely better option. I'm not sure how big a resorvoir I'd need. I'd like to get the maximum number of shots inbetween fills while still keeping it pistol siz...

PSI levels and tanks
I was revisiting an idea for a bb pistol and thought of using a PCP tank for it. Then I started looking up PSI per-shot and total resovior figures for low-mid power BB guns and found that there doesn't really seem to be any concrete info on it. My idea is for a plinking sorta informal gun, but it ma...

Re: .308 semi-auto carbine
It was more of a long-term plan. I guess I wouldn't say ULTRA light or compact. Like I said I'll be buying the barrel, and most likely the tank as well. The space thing I'm not worried about. The overall package will be roughly p90-shaped, so its pretty space efficient. I'm thinking a 16-20 inch bar...

.308 semi-auto carbine
So the past day I haven't been able to get this idea out of my head. An ultralight, ultra-compact semi-auto in a mid-sized caliber. I've outlined the general goals of the project but I'm still figuring out the build details, the remainder of which will all take shape based on trigger mechanism and e...

I think I'm gonna stick with the stock cylinder or make a new one from PVC. Still trying to deduce EXACTLY how the air works this, as I said it seems very convoluted. not only does the trigger move the tube into the actual shell when it shoots, it also moves the barrel forward when the cylinder has ...
