hey, i'm back and looking for a knife for skinning, i bought a 200 dollar buck knife but when i have to skin deer the blade goes blunt every 1-2 minutes witch is gay.

so yeah wanted to see if anyone can help me out i want something really hard as it wont cut bone only used for skinning.

we don't have the guard on lathes at trade school, we have them at work but most of them have been tweaked slightly! :wink:

but we do have the same problem with machine quality, first then the instructor taught us was to check the machine trueness. some of our ones at 5 turns for play in the top ...

also if your using carbide tools, you need to take a large cut for a good finish 0.5mm at least! and carbid likes to be pushed so a bit more feed than if you were using HSS.
