Here is a before and after. I loaded the program, put in the parameters, hit calculate and got the graph. I then changed only the barrel length and hit calculate and it locked up.

The performance monitor shows HGDT, which is what is giving me the 'headache'. Sorry, my mistake. Just got back to work again after 9 months and its been a real wake up.

Any way, this is the one that's locking up. GGDT does absolutely fine.

Even with no hardening, the thickness of your aluminum should be plenty. Max pressure under firing conditions shouldn't exceed about 500 psi and aluminum doesn't fail like PVC.

Your pressure vessel looks to be thick enough to withstand 25x easily, if that is steel I'm looking at. Check it for cracks with a good magnifying lens.

Try making your cage out of aluminum and ground it well. Aluminum has the tendency to repel magnetic forces whereas iron and steel accommodate it. Bismuth will repel very well, also. It is why an aluminum ring works so well being propelled by a magnetic force.
