Ordering from the net is no problem, but I always rather buy it from a "real store". I might make a graphite/fireclay crucible. Cement is useless in this case I am afraid.

A DIY crucible works but since I am not working with scrap but with pure metals I would prefer to use a "proper" crucible. Otherwise I'd just weld together some iron...

Alright, It seems like RS is the way to go (though I am still extremely grateful for any input as far a crucibles go). Do I understand correctly that I cannot just walk into RS(one of the trade counters that is) and buy stuff, but I need to order the things I need and then pick them up? Thank you fo...

Bits and pieces in London

Seeing as how my parents decided to see the Flower-Show this coming weekend I decided to spend my time in London (Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning) finding various items which I cannot find in my country, at least not for a fair price. I am looking for different shops that you can recommend and t...

Thus if you have a gun built already a longer piston may just be preferable to a shorter one. (The above is a hypothesis and...

That website isn't all that bad considering all the crap in the internet... I guess those websites are like car accidents; you know its wrong to check them out, and you don't really feel like you should because it is morbid and gross, you do nonetheless. Or, perhaps deep inside, we all get some type...

For the fins you could have them fixed on the side towards the tip. You have a ball bearing inside the rocked infront of the fins. When in the barrel they will fold in, but then inertia and gravity will push them out when fired. For longer barrels add a spring behind the ball.

As stated, use sheet metal, its easy enough to work with. Or, if you want this looking real smug I would be happy to explain to you how to cast it from an alloy such as ZAMAK, I spent roughly 30$ on this(including furnace, crucible and ALL tools, fuel and metal) and am VERY happy indeed that I did.
