Re: Modeling software for CNC (Mach3)

I use google sketchup for modeling. Simple interface and lots of powerful tricks built in. I can build anything I imagine with it. Thats not saying much.

Re: Seeking Freefall

When comparing combustion and pneumatic launchers I have always considered combustion to be more portable. A combustion produces 40-80 psi with .2 psi of propane. A pneumatic uses 200-400 times the amount of compressed gas? What projectile are you proposing for water distribution? Maybe a hint? Perh...

Can't wait to watch. If someone we're so kind as to record the episode that would appreciated greatly.

Bravo! Looks good and realistic. Kind of reminds me of the bizon smg. I bet you would take an interest boltsnipers builds http://nerfhaven.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6183

Re: New guy from PA, first spud gun.

Meh. I don't even recall a conventional combustion launcher that failed at the chamber wall. A improper joint seems to be the main mode of failure. Short socket depth, lack of glue, loose threaded connection. What im saying is, just buy some decent pipe. No need for two layers. you want it to be pvc...

Re: New guy from PA, first spud gun.

.8:1 chamber to barrel ratio is commonly accepted as the most efficient ratio. So that would mean you want the chamber to be 80% of the barrel volume. Again the chamber volume should be slightly less the the barrel volume. A larger chamber will produce more power but it explosion won't be used to it...

Re: Is spudding dead?

Less: posts, people online, builds, creative ideas being discussed. A lot of us still have the spudding fever, because we all know the potential for cool launchers. Most importantly it's the COMPLETED projects that stimulate the community, and those are a bit lacking. I've always had the problem of ...

wyz, 1:1 ratio, hmmm. Can't help but notice those teeth are roughed out a bit. Besides all the setup and time to get an accurate gear I can't imagine having to grind an HSS blank into the correct cutter profile.

Re: Christmas Lights and Potato Gun

If you used a heavier plug, and shoved it to the bottom of the barrel, and with the right launch angle, you probably could have shot the strand on to the roof. Cool idea, not really practical...

Re: 3d printer possible backlash?

3d printer - xyz da vinci 1.0 drive mechanism - belts programs - sketchup->xyzware I have tried playing with the belt tension, to no avail. Although I am sure it is a mechanical, not software issue. It looks like you have a problem in both axis since the gaps appear on an angle to both X and Y. http...

Re: New fueling system for hybrids (tested and works)

Interesting and innovative. Racked my brain over a smoke break on the liquid propane issue. Would agitating it work, like with the static mixing tube? Something tells me no. Tech introduced the time dose meter idea a while back and I've kept it in mind. Idea is still far away in fantasy land, but I ...
