No offense , but I often doubt the people that say they shoot half a mile or 500yds with a combustion thats neither a huge pneumatic or a hybrid. Unless you have Actually measured it, not by walking then sure I would believe you but estimates are often WAY off. [/rant]

ya ive gone over this alot as well, you need hundreds or thousands of psi to get shock heating that substantially will effect the airs speed of sound. Otherwise you could heat the air or use Helium as your gas.
sucks dont it :(

eh i can guarentee you another lawnmower engine of 2-3hp will work better then a 1hp little electric motor, i have a friend thats made one.
The very best motors are 2hp induction motors, they last long and are very efficient.

hmm a 1hp motor most likely wont be powerful enough to get 100psi. You need atleast like 2.5hp, I would suggest another lawn mower engines with the shafts connected to eachother. I hope to build one of these soon to replace my current sears craftsman 100psi portable compressor.

Construction of Monster Cannon

I soon will start on my latest cannon, my third. I've been thinking about it for a few days and have figured it out. It will consist of a 15 foot piece of 8inch Schedule 40 PVC cut in to three 5 foot lengths. They will be placed side by side in a roller cart. Each will be capped on one end with a sc...
