How exactly are you making the sealing surface that the piston pushes against to seal the barrel off? I'm in the middle of designing a gun of my own, and this is where I'm stuck

Alright, I went to home depot today and realized that I cannot find a hose barb like the one in the video below for anything. Is that common?? In fact, how in the heck does he screw it backwards into a pipe thread? Is that T fitting not a pipe thread?

Also, how do other people make the sealing ...

I'm looking at your 2" piston .pdf and I don't quite understand what it is- that can't be the piston that actuates in the T fitting because it's not round, right?
