It's been a long time since i was here, Oz laws on what is and is not a "firearm" pushed me out.

Re: Is spudding dead?

Funny, I only stopped by here after a year to see if anyone was still around as I was throwing out some half-finished pneumatic builds that were cluttering the workshop.

The political climate here makes builds, whether pneumatic or hybrid pretty much impossible. For those Stateside, imagine all ...

Hi fellow machinists.

I am adding a 4th axis to my CNC mill and need some advice on sourcing parts. I have the motor, gearbox etc, what I need is a 80-100mm self centring chuck that is mounted on a straight shatf, not MT arbour, so I can fit it to the gearbox.

I also need a tailstock to suit ...

PIA but there it is.

New firing plan

Press button on Arduino, digital pin 1 goes LOW
LOW state on pin 1 enables HIGH state on pin 2
Relay on pin 2 closes and solenoid trips
P-A now enabled, chamber fills
Ignore pin 1 thereafter, only needed to prime system
Look for pulse on pin 3, that means ...

Exactly the same way at 120psi
The funny thing is, the solenoid has a manual trip switch, you can see the red button in the photo.

P-A under pressure from the compressor, the manual switch makes a nice click and works.
R-A which is what we want, manual does nothing, you have to use the volts on ...

Yup
And a nice tingle from the 12v supply if you are not careful.

Are we going to need to get a room for the next bit ?

Three ports A, P, R, on each bit of kit.

QEV A is chamber
QEV R is breech block
QEV P is fill side

Solenoid R is compressor
Solenoid A is fill side going to pilot of the QEV
Solenoid P is vented

Chamber fills, evilvet trips solenoid, nothing happens, evilvet considers the merits of tall buildings ...

Well dang it, it don't work.

1.
Air line into NC port.
Trip solenoid
NC port opens and feeds QEV
Chamber fills just like it should
Release solenoid
NC path is closed, pilot vents through the NO exhaust
Chamber dumps out the R port just like it should

2.
Airline into NO port
Chamber fills
Trip ...

@JSR
So if that's the case, the N/O solenoid will allow my chamber to fill form the compressor as if the solenoid was not there at all, yes ?

When the solenoid actions, the N/O port close, sealing off the compressor and the pilot of the QEV is exposed ?

QEV fill & pilot problem

Have mercy on me Wyz and Jack & Tech and everyone else who will flame me for this, but I am f#$^&*! if I can find the right post to answer this.

I have an SNS QE04 Quick Exhaust Valve, 1/2" type.
I have an Airtac 3V201-08 NC (note normally closed, not normally open)
This is it here

So....

On the ...

Or perhaps more to the point, if you wish to communicate with others then at least have the good grace to do so without assaulting their ears or eyes.

More like my favorite airframe ever
the undeniably beautiful A-10

How can you argue with an aircraft that
"The A-10 was designed around the GAU-8 Avenger, a rotary cannon that is the airplane's primary armament and the heaviest such cannon mounted on an aircraft. "

The sole purpose of the airframe ...
