It is a component on a piston valve that softens the piston's landing so it doesn't break the valve. In this case, the spring absorbs some of the shock so less force goes to the back of the valve, if it even is a bumper. I'm pretty sure that's what is it though. Ah I see. Cool well that answers my ...

I already know how a piston valve works and the different types of piston valves. I have looked at the animation many times. I have also looked already on the wiki like I said but all it has was pics and a small bit of info that didn't help me much. The question I was asking wasn't what type of valv...

Supah-Valve

This may be a simple question for many people out there on Spudfiles and you might even think I'm dumb(I understand if you do). But I just can't figure out how the supah-valve from SGTC works? I found pics and some info on the Wiki but I still can't understand it. Here is the link to the pics. http:...

Since you want something free I would go with Google SketchUp. Personally I don't like it. I mean its good for something thats free and simple. But I prefer TurboCAD. It's around $100 but I like it much better than SketchUp. So something free thats pretty good is Google SketchUp. But if you want som...

Most piston valves are operated by air pressure. There is no rod. The one exception is my QDV which can't open by venting the pilot area to zero due to the 1:1 ratio of the seal diameter/piston OD diameter ratio. The rod is used to trigger it instead of air pressure. Once triggered, it is opened by...

This is a different question I came across.

Does the piston sit there and move along with the air pressure or does it have a rod through it and move along the rod with the air pressure? Or is it something completely different?

3/4" Oak dowel and 2 "O" rings and a 1/2" faucet washer gets me 1,000 fps at 600 psi in the Trom-Boyn.

That should be easy enough for you and all parts are store bought.
Sweet I'll try it!
