That is what I thought- this is my first piston cannon and with a 1" barrel I have all the parts figured out. Thanks for the help. Only 1 more question- like I said before would it be safe to sand off that part of the bushing that prevents the pipe from being pushed all the way through? I want the b...

is having a 1 1/4 barrel inside a 2" chamber going to give me enough power? Because I will just use 1 1/4". I just thought 1" would give me much more volume. Another reason is I am venting with a blowgun and was going for the smaller piston- but I am told a 1.5" piston should work with a blowgun. An...

is it OK to sand off an adapter coupling just enough so the pipe extends through it? Ya sorry that was a quick sketch- I haven't gotten all the parts together yet and was deciding if I should have the 1 1/4" barrel inside the chamber or outside as a barrel attachment. Should I make the barrel diamet...

Do I have to use a PVC adapter?
In a piston cannon I am working on I am using 1" pipe as a barrel but want to have the last 6-8 Inches be 1 1/4" Pipe to allow larger projectiles. Do I really need an adapter? 1 1/4" and 1" PVC pipes fit really well together. and the 1 1/4" will fit through a 2" to 1 1/4" adapter that has been sande...

a Tirrill burner is different from a Bunsen burner by having a flow control valve- so I need a pressure regulator... will any propane regulator fit on one of those smaller 12 oz propane tanks? thanks for the replies though- Like Technician said I need lower pressure and the torches don't regulate as...

Propane regulator?
I don't know if this belongs here but is there a cheap way to regulate the small Propane tanks, like the ones you would put a torch on? I am trying to make a propane Bunsen burner setup for relatively cheap. Any suggestions on what I would need? plan on using an on/off valve, hose, and Tirrill burne...

So if I used a 1" cap as a piston would a blowgun at the end of a 2ft hose be able to effectively vent it? and finally would it be better to make the back cap on the chamber screw on or use the threaded coupling in the middle? Thanks for all the help! I'm excited to finally get a piston cannon worki...

If I were to put a 1 1/4" Pipe behind the barrel and make a piston that size could I make #1 work? Kind of like Technician's picture? The reason I'm pushing for a hose is because between the 2" and 3" PVC there is not very much room and although I could probably get 1/2" PVC to fit next to the 2" It...

Will this piston design work?
I have 2 ideas of how to make a shoulder fired piston cannon. They both have a 1" Barrel surrounded by a 2" chamber. The first, and the preferred design uses a piston made from a 1 1/4" PVC cap with a rubber seal for the barrel that is connected to a smaller piston by a screw. The smaller piston fit...

Pneumatic piston cannon help
I am attempting to build my first piston cannon but have a question about the parts I want to use. Parts: -Chamber= 3" PVC, male/female coupler, Cap, 3" to 1.5" adapter -Barrel= 1.5" PVC -Piston= Gatorade bottle? (fits into 3" PVC pretty well and only leaves about .5cm between the walls of the Pipe)...

Well I went to the Ace hardware and he did not have anything bigger than 1in diameter and that didn't seem like it would work without welding it together - lowes and home depot are far away so I won't be able to go there for a while although I don't remember seeing threaded metal pipe... The guy at ...

would a hardware store sell all the parts for a metal cannon? I just need the chamber to be armored so would the parts probably be able to fit into the same valve I am using? Also How would I fit an industrial quick-release into a metal chamber? would I have to drill a hole somehow? As for it not be...
