Re: Saftety of PVC Pipe

I have a couple PVC hand held cannons. Honestly they always make me a bit leery even though I know I glued them properly with new pressure rates parts. I have one made from sheduled 80 and I feel more comfortable with that considering it being rated double that of sch 40. Also considering how brittl...

Re: Are these parts adequate for Oxy/Acetylene or Oxy/Propyl

As an aside, if you have a commercial plumbing supply house near you most have sch 80 steel nipples/fittings in stock and in my experience are much cheaper than McMaster.

Re: Large commercially available exhaust valves

Found a "Cla-Val" pressure reducing valve during random Craigslist browsing. Was curious on what it was. Searched the manufacturer and they look almost identical In design to the ubiquitous plastic sprinkler valves. Specs showed up to 36" and 400 psi with higher pressure rating available. All the po...

Re: Second Pneumatic Potato Gun

i would guess your leaks come from pvc glued to abs. Most plumbing codes do not allow it even for non pressure drainage as it is not a secure joint. PVC and ABS will not properly solvent weld together. You will need to use all pvc or all abs with the glued joints.

Re: Short question topic

If you don’t mind ordering than this sort of thing would be ideal. I believe the fittings are generally 1/8” thread. https://www.amazon.com/Paintball-Airsoft-Refueling-Stainless-Disconnect/dp/B0727QF3PV/ref=mp_s_a_1_50?ie=UTF8&qid=1530499114&sr=8-50&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=paintball+fill+hos...

Re: Short question topic

That pressure washer hose would be a good option. Very similar to hydraulic hose. I believe most of the commercial stuff actaully has regular 3/8 pipe thread. The ones sold with home use electric units use a 22mm thread.

Re: Short question topic

Clear Pvc with a nylon braid? That stuff is only rated for maybe 20 bar at the highest. You won’t find any 40 bar rated tubing at a hardware store. Easiest locally available would probably be hydraulic hose.

Re: Golf ball launcher

Huh, link works for me. Picture looks kinda like a general one of a smaller fitting but they have them in both 1-1/2” and 2” sizes as well as the typical smaller sizes. They’re compression type fittings.

Re: Golf ball launcher

Related to tubing for barrels, when looking into this myself I found these which would be great for those that don’t have access to welding. I had contacted them And was told the pressure rating is 1500 psi so would be suitable for even higher mix hybrids. https://www.discounthydraulichose.com/produ...

Re: New medium pressure compressor

Ohh the current is not a worry. I’ve built the setup to run a 25hp motor and have a 200a service so aside from the slightly larger power bill not an issue.

Re: New medium pressure compressor

I do have a vfd already actaully, as well as a 240-480 transformer. It’s just more to set up than if i has a single phase transformer. Then again, the compressor weighs 500 lbs so mobility is already pretty moot.

Re: New medium pressure compressor

Ha, I didn’t even notice the dog before. This was before I picked it up. Yes, electric, 440 volt 3 phase. I would swap the motor for single phase however it’s IEC so finding a single phase in that frame is highly unlikely.

New medium pressure compressor

Recently picked up this compressor for hybrids pre charge and large pneumatics. Not sure of the exact pressure capability but it is between 300/600 psi. 14 cfm, 7.5 hp. 2 stage piston, water cooled, oil lubed. Have it stored right now but will get videos when I have a chance to clean up and fully te...

Re: Miscegenation: the hybrid piston hybrid.

McMaster I found to be much higher on steel than a lot of places, their pvc is high but not quite as bad, ok for a couple fittings. But yeah, I would look for a commercial plumbing supplier, mine ordered both the schedules 80 pvc and steel fittings for me no problem.

Re: Miscegenation: the hybrid piston hybrid.

As I mentioned I found steel to be cheaper than pvc. More specifically sch 40 steel cheaper than sch 80 pvc and will withstand the pressure needed for 10x. Roughly I think I bought 4” butt weld steel elbows for around $20. The sch 80 pvc elbows I believe were toward $40. These were new fittings from...
