Re: Air Shotgun Shells?

For me, there’s only so much you can do with what you have laying around. Never had luck with epoxy, lol. Acraglas is good stuff, though.

Re: Air Shotgun Shells?

That sounds alright. I’m imaging the bolt would have to push the rear wad slightly forward so that it can enter the inside of the shell, sealing it. Or something along those lines. I’ve decided to wait til I have myself a lathe before I attempt a PCP, but these ideas will help with my designs in gen...

Re: Air Shotgun Shells?

Thats more along the lines of what I was thinking. Only complication there is to lock the shell within the barrel, but I’m sure it’s not much harder than upsetting the rear area with a hammer. I was curious when I first learned of the wads within the shell, do these affect the shot upon firing? Spec...

Re: Air Shotgun Shells?

That sounds like an alright plan, didn’t know these existed. Thanks for the tip.

Re: Air Shotgun Shells?

I’m sorry, I didn’t know that applied to animals as well. I’ll be sure not to do that from now on. I’ve had similar findings. I’ve launched ~20 paintballs out of my 2” barrel and found them to pattern quite well- at like 10 feet. More than that, none of them ever did hit the Center, just as you desc...

Re: Air Shotgun Shells?

Yeah, I usually use carefully folded up paper for my launcher as well. Works but definitely annoying, wish it was less finicky.

Air Shotgun Shells?

Well, got more questions like usual lmao. I’m thinking of making a PCP air shotgun for use on small tree-borne pests and all that. Breech loaded, single shot, and really simple mechanically. I’m just stuck on how to make some shells. Looking at normal air shotguns, it looks like they have a shell th...

Re: Help with pressure gauges?

Yeah, I agree. I was just wondering if it’s safe to operate at 600 PSI itself. I’m probably not going much past 400. Although the valve is much smaller than the other parts of the tank, I’m not gonna risk blowing it apart. Thanks for the confirmation.

Re: Help with pressure gauges?

Oh okay, thanks. I’ll look into getting one of these.

Sort of unrelated but do you know how much pressure I can use if my parts are rated to 600 PSI? Newbie question, but I’m not sure. The steel pipe has a higher pressure rating but the valve itself is a 3/4” brass ball valve.

Re: Help with pressure gauges?

Thanks JSR!

Yeah, that’s pretty much exactly it. Are these tightened with a large wrench like the gauge on the pump?

Help with pressure gauges?

I’ve been hard at work making my everything launcher air cannon more efficient and nicer and one addition was getting a PCP airgun Pump. I’m a huge fan of the pump and I snagged it for like $80 but I have no idea what pressure I’m pushing. The pressure gauge starts at 5 MPA or around 700 PSI and I’m...

Re: “Everything Launcher” Air Cannon

I’ll keep that link in mind. Huh, I suppose that’s true too. My plan right now is to make my own pump for my upcoming birthday so we can have some fun blowing stuff up , and then once I get enough money sometime I’ll get the $80 pump. I’ve also bought some adapter to change my fire extinguisher from...

Re: Pneumatic Pistons?

That’s perfect, thank you so much. I was trying to design my own and was close to that first image but not quiet. This helps tremendously.

I think I pretty much know what I need to know now, thanks for all the help.

Re: Pneumatic Pistons?

I suppose that pressurizing it separately would be best. I thought the air remains inside upon firing, though. Does it leak out any air upon firing? You’re right though, I’m sure that to get to this to fire powerfully while relying on the pressure of compressing the piston, it’s gotta be very high p...

Re: “Everything Launcher” Air Cannon

Huh, I see. That’s sort of what I was expecting. My other idea was a a cannon with a built in underlever pump. I feel like that would be a lot more useful and portable, most of all probably easier to pump. As for an air tank, I have a smaller fire extinguisher laying around so I’ll probably use that...
