I've been out of the game a while and never exactly, well, cared to even look into hammer valves. I've always been the bolt action sort of guy, just wanting maximum performance per round, not just spraying ammo.

Definitely get a longer barrel. You're not getting the potential out of that large volume of air in your chamber.

Do you have a spring in the valve? How big is your equilization hole thing in the valve? A little larger hole can make it seal faster, which could be an issue with that big of a tank ...

You could always find an old CO2/nitrous tank or something and build a hybrid. Or use CO2 as a propellant. With a higher pressure you could use a smaller valve and still get the same amount of gas flowing to propel the "potato".

hammer valves seem like kind of a bad idea, but they seem to work find in paintball guns.

The high pressure would help force the striker back to the cocked position and then the spring would have enough force to smack the pin and open the valve.

I have used a couple tubes of epoxy meant for use on plastics that just never set up. I mixed it in the correct ratio and mixed it very well, but it never hardened even the least bit.
