I think you would get a bit more power going with a 4'+ barrel.

I just got a 2 1/2" SDR 26 barrel and pop cans fit great in it. They seem to have the most "fun factor" out of all the different things I've shot.

A circular piece of neoprene will work well for a piston bumper.

Would multiple burst discs make it any louder?
