Just check it out at the store to see if it fits. Also, since yo're a self proclaimed noob I'll tell you now. Make sure you buy pressure rated fittings and pipe. Make sure the fittings or pipe either have a pressure printed on them or they say NSF-PW. If it says NSF-DWV instead of NSF-PW then they a...

This valve is actually really easy to make. Best of luck to you making it. It makes a rather cheap compact valve too. I recomend this style to everyone. It's great.

I don't know the link but look in the forum for valve cutaways. There's a diaphrahm valve cutaway that is exactly like the piston you want to do.

note- if turned into a combustion it can no longer be used as a pneumatic.
also, be suree to use pvc glue and primer and let it dry for at least 12 hours.
and let it dry for 24 hours not 12.

okay, save yourself loads of trouble in the future and buy yourself a 1/4" and 1/8" npt tap. They work lightyears better than just drilling and screwing the piece in.

I've made an inline piston exactly like this. All you do is push the pipe in from the barrel and put a 90 degree elbow to use as the seat. You may have to cut a little off of the elbow. Just make sure you get the elbow on nice and square. This kind of piston works very well.

Make a small porting piston valve, say 1". That way it will have power and be cheap. Or go with a 3/4" porting and you can shoot paintballs too. If you don't understand pistons here is a link.

yep, and if you really want to be fancy about all of this you can make a second, smaller piston valve to actuate the large piston and use a blow gun on a small legnth of hose to actuate the smaller one. This way you can make a trigger kind of thing instead of turning a valve.

red hot steel must suck but you must not have an idea how bad I got burnt. Let me put it this way. I lost 50% percent of the skin on three of my fingers. It peeled all the way to the muscle. They gave me two shots of morphine, a lortab, and another liquid pain killer and it still hurt like I had got...

okay, good point. Don't tape a piece of pipe onto a piece of plastic. Make sure you glue any piece of pipe down.

hot glue

just a warning. If you ever make a piston out of hot glue wear gloves. I just got second degree burns all over my left hand and it's skin is peeling off because my mold broke apart all over my hands. DON'T MAKE MY MISTAKE!!!

okay, so I'm probably flooding you with stupid questions but your equation doesn't take the mass and resistance of the projectile into account. Given that, what kind of projectile was this based on so that I can keep my estimates accurate.
