Re: I see we have a new skin …

Ironically enough the purpose of this design is to be extremely light weight, it is the entire purpose of this theme in fact - super light weight with JS/CSS running most heavy lifting. The rest of the site seems to be lightweight and impressively fast. Only issue for me has been the header animati...

Re: I see we have a new skin …

Look in the mirror, tell us. What do you see? Someone who possesses at least the very minimal level of computer knowledge required to understand that OP's choice of OS has little or no bearing on the massive performance penalty imposed by this site's header. Tell us jrrdw, which specific characteri...

Re: I see we have a new skin …

Oh lord, nuff said... Really? You're really still clinging to that "my platform is better than your platform" bullshit? Grow up, man. Back when I was a regular here, jrrdw was known for using this site primarily as a platform to broadcast his Dunning-Kruger affliction. I see not much has changed in...

Re: I see we have a new skin …

Overall it looks good, nice to see that everything now loads properly over TLS, and the new skin is far more aesthetically pleasing than the ~2013 iteration, which made the site look like a shitty nerf gun forum from 2003. This may sound harsh, but with that abomination in the scrapheap where it be...

Re: I see we have a new skin …

1 - javascript / canvas powered eye candy header background. Very pretty, but adds nothing to the experience and sucks up cycles like you wouldn't believe. It's grinding my machine into the floor to the point where I have to slow down my typing or get misse keystrokes. I can adblock it out, but ......

Re: TBMA-230 V2.0

Pictures are back up. I did an automated sort/rename of all my personal photos a while back, and didn't know for certain which ones I had used in the original post, so I had to guess. They are the most current available so they should be good enough. Hosting them on my personal server so you don't h...

Re: TBMA-230 V2.0

You have to write the letters A, P and R on the floor with PVC cement and put a QEV in the middle while reading an archived burnt latke page backwards if you want to summon him ;) Looks like someone recently performed the ritual correctly. Surprising, because if the incantation is even slightly off...

Hah, indeed.

The disaster that is the current chat implementation is the reason I started the channel.

Spudfiles IRC Channel

For those who aren't aware, I maintain an IRC channel on freenode for spudding related discussion. To access it, just connect to the freenode network using your IRC client (irssi, hexchat, pidgin, etc.) and type /join ##spudfiles It doesn't see much traffic right now, but hopefully it will pick up i...

Is spudding dead?

It's been a while since I was last here, and activity seems to be at an all time low. I can't help but think that with the old crew now busy with adult life and members of the new phone-handed generation having little interest in anything other than the LCD displays in front of their faces, spudding...

Spudfiles IRC Channel

I've created a Spudfiles IRC channel for chatting, it can be found on the freenode network at ##spudfiles. Feel free to join and chat, it's completely open at the moment, but I recommend registering your nicks with the nickserv. For those unfamiliar with IRC: You need a client, for example Hexchat. ...

Re: New to hybrids

For chamber isolation, I would definitely go with something more robust than a standard 600WOG ball valve. I experienced several failures at higher mixes, using atmospheric air with and without additional oxygen. A 3KPSI hydraulic BV should work well. Brass quick connects will also be fine at 150PSI.

Re: Spud guns DB-Sound, G-Vibration and Ns-Velocity measurem

There's approximately zero chance that the mic in a smartphone is going to be able to accurately process a high amplitude, short period sound wave like a cannon report, and thus zero chance that the number reported by the application will be correct. In my experience, many of them also peak at somet...

Re: WhatsApp spudfiles chat ?

Maybe I'm a bit behind the times, but the smallest screen I currently own is a 17" laptop. ;)

How about just using a public jabber server?
