Re: A tale of two valves

Lol, I see what you're saying a lot more energy in the larger one used inefficiently. I'll make a video next time I visit my friend. Not a strictly controlled test but the large cannon was filled to something like 80psi the small cannon filled to a fraction of that shooting the same tennis ball we s...

Re: Gluing schrader valve in mini coaxial

I used to use a belt sander to remove rubber from Schrader valve stems. I last did it to glue and clamp it to some vinyl tubing

They do make threaded all brass valve stems that might work better with mini coax guns.

Re: barrel thoughts

Question on barrel rifling expense, is a rifling button with budget? For .22 there are plenty of carbide rifling buttons for sale on ebay around $50. I haven't used one myself but from what I've seen if you rifle quality steel with a cheap rifling button you'll want drill rod and a press to force it...

Glad you got a garage to keep it in, thermal cycling of the seasons wrecked a some of the more complicated PVC cannons I stored in sheds

A tale of two valves

I'll cut to the chase, if you or a friend still use sprinkler valves show them this, I'll try to get a video to prove it if necessary. I built these two cannons with a friend who wanted to make an air Cannon. The small one was made for ping pong balls but my friend really wanted to try shooting tenn...

Re: Starting a new build

should be okay, you still wanna make sure your ammo is ahead of the valve outlet while keeping the dead space to a minimum. a lot of designs like the coaxial gun in the website banner used built in ram rods to push ammo into the correct side pipe fittings A lot of other breech designs incorporated t...

Re: coupler burst disk M72 law

Yeah I shrunk the burst disk size to in theory increase rupture pressure and have less burst disk material overall all to hopefully make this more reliable. this method for burst disks is pretty limited and can only handle 3 layers of foil at most, also with friction alone holding the pipe I thought...

Re: Forum layout and "wasted" screen space

I think it's more that the text in posts would be harder to read in a wide format, if I wrote several paragraphs with use of the full screen and same text size as you pan you view back over to start the next line you loose track of which line you were on. I just wish the boxes on the left were more ...

Re: coupler burst disk M72 law

I finally got a chance to update this project, i changed it to a 1.5" chamber with a .5" coupler and pipe for the burst disk, this seems to preform fine even just with one layer of foil. https://i.imgur.com/v4iU1Ao.jpg https://i.imgur.com/U1IDKu6.jpg https://i.imgur.com/lQQg3Jw.jpg https://i.imgur.c...

Re: Pneumatic RC Plane Launcher

that "piston setup" seem like a better idea than stuffing it in the barrel, the extra weight of the piston would stabilize the acceleration. not to mention you'd still have a decent spudgun when you're finished

Party Popper dissection (disposable pneumatic)

hello folks I recently bought some disposable confetti cannons to see if they could be used to launch nerf footballs in airsoft mil sim events. you can see a video of my test here https://i.imgur.com/wyQI9mj.jpg it seems to work pretty well, but I deci...

Re: Pilot Valve for QEV - JSR's $20 Semi-Auto BB Gun Questio

If I'm not mistaken a lot of 3 way control valves are already internally pneumatically actuated. Mostly the ones with very easy to actuate switches or solenoids, if you buy one with 1/4" or larger ports you probably have a perfectly adequate opening speed for a small airsoft or Nerf gun build. I bou...
