Re: Is spudding dead?

Just happened to pass by and decided to say hi! Long time no see guys. The hobby has been and is on hold for now, but I'll get back into it one day... someday... This forum theme is awful though. What is this, a windows 7 troubleshooting forum? Wouldn't be surprised if this has discouraged some visi...

@metalmeltr I also use grease gun hose for my fridgy. It can leak air into a bubble under the surrounding skin. BTB did that with the same hose, and bursted the bubble with a knife. He said it made an insane bang, indicating a lot of pressure in it. So beware, it may release air violently when such ...

Nice!

I especially like the one which shows the radially expanding flame front.
I think the differences between rear, mid and central ignition are not proving much in this case, as the chamber volume differs greatly.

Most popoff's dump air so fast the input flow is not significant.
Remember it dumps to atmosphere while your filling valve puts out air into a pressurized environment!

I'd recommend to fill from the pilot side. It will help quickly closing the piston as soon as the popoff closes, saving air.

My greatest fear on this setup is that when I push the pressure washer handle, the first shot will fire then the pop-off will remain open and not go DAKKA DAKKA Unless the flow is really, REALLY big, or your popoff is weird, this will not happen. It'll just build pressure until the popoff pops, pil...

I once opened up about 20 zinc-carbon AA batteries for the carbon rods.

Besides being a PITA to get them out and to clean them, they break up due to bubbles forming inside the surface.
Go with stainless steel instead.

On top of that a combustion has a very short pressurized time while a pneumatic is carried around (and dropped?) while pressurized.

Yeah it was awesome! But I'm even more excited about next year. There's a big gun in my head right now... :D There's nothing better than shooting stuff over a field with a whole crowd behind you going "Ooah!" The gun will be big next year. Oh yes it will be BIG. It has to be. Because its awesome.

simple, and like your sniper, attractive. I like it. This is just a personal pet peeve of mine, but it's called a sniper rifle not a sniper. Barrel and pump shaft in one. At first this seems like a practical and compact idea. But it isn't that good. Like others have said there are serious safety issues. If the check valve (the piston valve) fails to seal, your pump rod and piston will get launched into... you. With this idea, you will be...
