I'll try without the center backup disc. Do you think the rubber needs to be a full 1/8"? Mine is that red gasket material from the plumbing section. It's fairly firm, but only maybe 3/32" thick. I'll try it out of course, but if it doesn't work just wondering ...
Has anyone else successfully done this sprinkler valve mod?
I've done what you said, noname. I got thick rubber sheet, cut it over size and glued a smaller rigid disc in the middle. This unit then is pushed, with difficulty and small tools, down into the valve and seals tightly all around the valve ...
What you say makes sense in that an oversized rubber circle would make a 'roll' that seals on the valve wall but lets the center rigid disc move up and down.
So are you saying push the center rigid disc (the coin/token) in and let the rubber part roll up ...
So, this issue (the pilot volume one) keeps sloshing back and forth in my mind. What BC said makes sense. So does what clide said. I think the stuff I originally posted applies, yet minimizing volume makes sense.
I think the ideal is kind of a paradox: minimal volume with maximum flow. A tiny ...
Thanks for the welcome, experament-u2 :) I look forward to building some launchers and sharing the experience here. Just got some parts from McMaster last night.
Hey, I think you're right BC Pneumatics. I didn't think too much about the whole volume behind the diaphragm being under pressure. At ...
A comment was made that this gun's performance might be increased by decreasing the "pilot volume," which it was said was made bigger by the length of hose between the sprinkler valve and the ...
