The ball valve is a 2in ball valve. I had done this before for pete in a thread about a year ago. It worked well but ugly(I used a dremel) I suggest a hloe saw for more pleasing results. I really hate my printer right now it is really pissing me off it has decided that it wont recognize that theres 20 sheets of paper in it and it insist on not deleting a document that i did not want to print.( I t has said deleting document for 30min)

It's that length (not Dia) of pipe behind your piston that is your extra space. If you're happy with performance, then it should be fine. Lessening that space will offer you some percentage points more performance...possibly not very noticable in the real world however. Well actually in some cases ...
