For any pneumatic fittings this website is one of the best as it can often be hard to find pressure rated parts in b&q. They also have different sized QEV's.

Any details on the propane tank attachment? I just used an empty propane bottle a plumber gave me. It already had a 3/4" thread on it so I just drilled the valve out and screwed it on. It said on the bottle it was rated to 30 bar. I've taken it up to 80 psi so far. Shot a bit of wood at some plywoo...

My New QEV Gun

So after multiple attempts I have finally got my gun working. It was originally made to be a piston valve but I was desperate to get it working and so just used a 3/4" QEV. Its my first pneumatic so be nice. Specs: Chamber- Propane Torch Tank Barrel- 15mm OD Copper Pipe Main Valve- 3/4" QEV Pilot Va...

BAD Idea! Don't mess about with steam. It is much easier to build an advanced combustion or pneumatic (and a lot cheaper). Why bother considering steam takes so long to build pressure?

Go with the solenoid. Using a 3/4" QEV would really restrict the flow and it would be very pricey buying a big enough one.

Like mattyzip77 said to get a consistent shot you need to use a chamber fan. This means you can fire at all angles as the gas doesn't sink to the back or front when you tilt it and provides the gun with a much more equal blast.

With my air chamber I am having a little trouble as the pressure relief valve is letting out air at about 20 psi. Here's the chamber. I have recently painted it. Would that have any effect? Also the picture is before the main valve was drilled. http://i1238.photobucket.com/albums/ff481/nathanhd123/9...

Perhaps you should wait till you have made it or at least provide us with some decent specs and possibly pictures of the gun so far before you start a pointless topic.

I'm sure this isn't really the answer you are looking for but its all about finding somewhere in the middle that works for your gun and projectile. Heavy projectiles do require slightly more volume but that dosn't mean you should completly sacrifice pressure.

First off nice gun. However the zip ties make it look a bit messy along with the block of wood.. Have you tried carving a stock? Also how safe is that fire extinquisher pin as you dont wont that misfiring. For the sealing face you just need to find some thick rubber, neoprene sheets are good, and cut...

Like JSR says make sure you glue all of the fittings properly together. This means making sure you clean the pipes, use primer and then the solvent weld. If you do it right and make sure you use pressure rated pipe and fittings you wont have a problem.
