That was a little bit what bumped me, I thought that the increased speed would be a good thing. Plus, there should be a way to make the piston out of some extra light yet very resistent material, wouldn't it be possible? I am aware small pistons can open very fast, GGDT predicts 1-2 ms opening time ...

The homemade ones, using epoxy piston, I have put up to 400 psi in them. The latest one with an almost airtight piston was really loud at such pressure.
Has someone ever tried the first design?

Oh right i see... I didn't know that :D
I'll try eventually the first setup and compare how it performs with the Tee design. I need a new sealing surface, tennis ball rubber isn't all that good.

How is the third one standard? It appears to me as a optimised one!
The first one of course you'd need to round the outer barrel, and flare the piston a little to ensure little wear.

Piston ideas

Hey guys, I've been redesigning my old pneumatic piston rifles, and played with two designs, a 6mm coaxial (barrel) and a 3/4" barrel sealing piston in a Tee. Now, I've been thinking, as I don't have commercial QEVs, how could I improve the overall performance of such valves? I've drawn a few diagra...

I was sure clarifying would do you no good, because your mind is sooooo dirty... it could actually put new metaphores in your mind...
Still, back on topic, this method has never failed on me.

Okay , let me contribute : I took advice from MrCrowley on the male part (well, i don't have an angle grinder so i hand-sawed the tapered part roughly and then ground it with the dremel.) BUT , I also did another thing. I took a 16mm copper pipe, slide it through the female part (and greased it with...

I'd back up petitlu on soda cans, i use one layer and i need to score it a little for it to break at 10x. 12x however is no problem.
Soda cans can rupture badly. Only half of it can go out of the barrel and you need to consider it like a projectile on its own, at least for a few meters!

You have to know approximately for low mixes. You just check your air line Inner diameter, and the length of it. pi*r²*L and voilà... volume.

Nice hybrid by the way wyz!
