Re: "Offtopic-posts-topic" NSFW
Was on the set of the My Kitchen Rules NZ TV show on the weekend. They were filming the finale on Tuesday and needed a confetti cannon. Dropped by with my tennis ball launcher (2" sprinkler valve) and shot a barrel full of confetti about 15m high and 15m long in a test. Apparently they used it when ...

Nope, works for me fine. Maybe WMM is some how associating the link with its program? Perhaps try another browser.

Re: Stage1 - 120X CLGG
MrCrowley: how did you simulate that on HGDT? I get one of those famous "invalid procedure call or argument" rats nest graphs when I try to run it. Chamber dimensions as given, barrel dimensions as given, MAPP gas 120x with a single ignition point, burst disk failure 9000PSI with the same diameter ...

Re: Stage1 - 120X CLGG
That's an amazing piece of engineering, looking forward to any updates. Why is it that you're shooting inside? I'm surprised you're allowed to! Not sure how accurate HGDT is at those pressures but it's interesting to see that it estimated a muzzle velocity of 930m/s using only MAPP gas and not hydro...

Re: Anybody use this 400 psi Sigma QEV?
I've used a 1/4" QEV to pilot a 3/4" QEV, if you can get them cheap then go for it. I have a blowgun piloting the 1/4" QEV, which is probably overkill for that even. I imagine a hammer valve would work with the 1/4" QEV.

Re: Short question topic
Can you find out how much current your load would normally draw if connected to high current batteries such as NIMH or LiPO at it's rated voltage. That's a good idea, I'll see if I can pick up some batteries to test it with today. Do you think 2800mAh is enough, such as these wired in series? http:...

Re: Anybody use this 400 psi Sigma QEV?
You could just use one of the typical UK or US style QEVs. People have taken them over 500PSI before, I believe. I've taken mine to about 400PSI. If it does fail, the likely scenario is the piston/diaphragm failing and opening the valve. Just treat the air cannon as you would a firearm when it's loa...

Re: Short question topic
I tried adjusting the CC pot. and that seemed to help. I got it to go up to 2A (it says 2.6A is the max but that isn't controllable via the pot., I think) and voltage increase to about 2V or so as well. Spark is jumping bigger gaps with a much higher frequency (even compared to the old circuit where...

Re: Short question topic
I wouldn't have thought so, the output is a high voltage sparker. Seeing as it's supposed to run off 2 AAs/AAAs, I would've thought it'd regulate the current and not the voltage.

Re: Short question topic
Need to be prompt here, can add details later. Been trying to "fix" my remote ignition system (can't ignite mixes above 9X). Possible causes: 1 - Using 9V battery with AAAs 2 - Step-down converter limiting current to 700mA I fixed these today by wiring 8 AAAs in series and buying this: http://www.su...

Re: Need help from someone in the United States!
Just tried it with four AAs wired in series with an 8mm spark gap...GODDAMN it's loud. Far louder than my 100kV stungun ever was, this thing is violent.
Really simple setup though, I'd definitely recommend it assuming it works in hybrids.

Re: New to hybrids
Yeah you're gonna need some form of sparker or another. I don't think the problem with my one is the 30kV as you can get sparkers with a lower output voltage that work just fine. Currently, I'm looking in to whether it is the batteries that are causing the problem. Anyway, grab one of these: http://...

Re: My First Hybrid
Metering: Volumetric Splitter! :D Just kidding! Nice job and a good introduction to hybrid cannons. Troubleshooting can be an issue, just rule out each problem one by one. Use water and detergent to test for leaks, once that's solved work on testing your stungun at higher pressures (with no fuel mi...
