Very nice, I think it is time I get a TIG. What length is the barrel and what kind of ammo is planned?

If you weld the tubes in place, then you just lost the point of having bolts. You will be relying on the strength of the welded tubes and not the studs. The tubes won't be welded to the end caps. The studs are still the only thing holding the caps on. I was planning on leaving the tubes a spaced a ...

Looks good. Why do you have tubes around the studs? If you aren't careful, the tubes will absorb all your torque, and then the end caps might not be tight enough, or evenly tightened. EDIT: I guess what i'm saying is, just make sure they float and aren't compressed. I am not sure what you mean by t...

Thanks for the fast replies. Let’s see if I can put this in order. DYI- The weld on the barrel does not concern me to much. My plan was to drill the hole large enough to have the barrel slip into it. That way I could weld it on both sides of the steel plate. I have butt welded thinner plates to pipe...

high mix hybrid ideas and questions.

I have been trying to come up with a good way to build a hybrid that could take high mixes but not require a lathe. My hopes are 200X mixes. Here is the Idea I have; I found some steel tubing for the chamber 4” OD, 2” ID, 1” wall and 24” long, It is seamless DOM. For end caps I am thinking 1.5” thic...

Thanks Dewey-1!

Those look great.

Now I just need to find some time to take them out and put them through some stuff.

jeeperforlife; With your luck on getting that CG to CP dimensions proper on your first try, I salute you! Better buy a lottery ticket soon with that kind of luck! :D Looking forward to more pictures and video. I can do a 2D/3D drawing for you and post it here. Just need accurate fin dimenions. A dr...

Looking good, with a suitable sabot it should be able to punch through a considerable thickness of steel plate ;) I have some 2" OD foam rod for a sabot. I am looking in to heat treating the tip. Any suggestions? I took the dart to my work and got the weight for it. I is just over 1/2 pound (.61LBS...

I took the dart to my work and got the weight for it. It is just over 1/2 pound (.61LBS) . I put everything in GGDT and this is what it gave me for the darts. 473FPS and 2083 FT. Lbs I once launched a 1.375 Ball Bearing (245 +/- gm.) from this cannon using only 100psi. The cannon and frame weigh ap...

Well I found out today that the guy in the next apartment over moved out. This meant I was able to do some testing. I found the recoil to be quite manageable wile fixed to the stand. Between the weight of the gun and and stand's flexibility it is much better than I thought. Instead I turned to makin...

If it would overshoot it would cause the gun to fly off the stand forward. It would be most amusing to have a pneumatic cannon launcher :D That was quite a play on words. I just woke up so it took a couple of minutes to figure out what exactly you were trying to say. It makes you wonder if you shoo...

I got some parts today to build some straps to hold the gun onto the stand. I would leave it free to recoil in the cradle but attach a couple of bungee straps going around the back of the launcher. Something vaguely like this: If it would overshoot it would cause the gun to fly off the stand forwar...

I like your stand SO much better than mine though. I might make one like yours... Actually I really want to make a stand like that... Thanks, I will take some more detailed pictures of the stand and wright up some information if you want. Just send me a P.M., unless you want me to post it up on thi...
