Garden Sprayer Cannon (Chappy)
Hi Spudders, Construction: This is my weed sprayer cannon! The most noticeable feature is that the chamber is made from a 1 gal. garden sprayer which is made from a thick polyethylene plastic. The threads on the tank were very different from 2" NPT but I cast them into the correct thread size using ...

Displacement Fueling/Venting Concept
Hi Spudders! I thought of a way to fuel/exhaust a combustion potato cannon is a simple way. I originally came up with the idea when I decided I wanted to build a cannon using a garden sprayer for a chamber like this one: https://i5.walmartimages.com/asr/c9022e18-8ed0-4247-bdb3-7f518fcdee69_1.5b4f6be...

Re: Stainless and Painless
I remember most the handle on Copperhead Prime made out of polymorph. The trouble is the low melting temperature. I wanted something that was more wood-like too. Hopefully it doesn't look like a turd when it's sanded. When mixing the sawdust into the wood glue it looked a lot like chicken salad. It ...

Re: Stainless and Painless
Update! So my plans to see my friends didn't pan out so I wasn't able to fire the cannon over the weekend :( Thanks! Yeah, I wanted to try this first hop-up design because it was very easy to make and doesn't require modifying the barrel itself. We'll see if it gets blown apart or not! From seeing o...

Re: Stainless and Painless
Thanks for the feedback! I don't have any data on the valve opening time no... THERE IT IS!!!! I was looking for that cannon for so long! I remember seeing that thing so long ago, and that's what inspired me to use a wye-strainer actually. I tried looking for that post, but couldn't find it. I loved...

Re: Stainless and Painless
All you got to do is wish as hard as you can and magic will do the rest! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Here's the experimental ammo I'm going to try in addition to spuds and gold balls. 1" couplings are a perfect fit for the barrel so I decided to take advantage of that. The one on the right is kinda similar to t...

Re: Stainless and Painless
Grrreat questions! Thanks! It took me 8 days to build this. I had lots of time because it was winter break from school. I used "Oatey No. 5 Lead Free Solder Paste" which is used for plumbing flux. I used silver bearing acid core solder "used for metal work" with it. In the future i'd recommend using...

Stainless and Painless UPDATE! Major Changes + VIDEO
a.JPG Hi Spudders! Abstract: I want to show you all my latest pneumatic cannon! Here's a brief overview. The valve is a piston type housed in a stainless 2" wye strainer fitting. The chamber is 2" sch40 stainless threaded pipe. The barrel is sch10 anodized aluminum pipe with 1.682" ID (golf balls!!...

Re: Bolt Action Bullpup .45 cal
Thank you! I think it would be better if you watched my disassembly/reassembly video to get a better idea of how everything works: I got a chance to test out my idea of adding a smoothbore extension to the rifled barrel. It wasn't as accurate as just t...

Discontinuous Rifling
Hi spudders! I've got a question for you! I've got my new airgun I built here: http://www.spudfiles.com/pneumatic-cannon-database/topic26216.html and I have a 10.5" .45 cal rifled barrel inside it. I want to get some more length out of it to better utilize the air for each shot to increase velocity....

Re: Bolt Action .45 cal (UPDATE: New Barrel and Shooting Vid
I think my shots in the woods yesterday were less powerful because the ammo I was using wasn't precise like the .535 cal round balls I was using before. But even if I did have nice lead bullets for it (which will happen soon so stay tuned), I would expect less projectile energy because there is less...

Re: Homemade Big Bore .545 cal Airgun (Update Damage Pics)
Wow I appreciate that a lot! So I made some changes to the gun... I received in the mail my 10.5" long 1 in 12" twist rifled long Colt barrel. Got it here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/45-Caliber-Rifled-Barrel-Stock-Material-Chambered-for-45-ACP-/111628797451 I made a bolt action mechanism using 1" PVC p...

Re: Homemade Big Bore .545 cal Airgun
Thank you for the positive feedback! Brian the Brain: When you say muffler do you mean a silencer? I've thought about making an integral one that permanently fixed to the upper receiver so I wouldn't need a license for it. We'll see how loud it is outside though. Which leads me too... mark.f: I have...

Bolt Action Bullpup .45 cal (NEW VIDEOS)
It's been a while! Hi all! I want to share my finished project with you all so I can get some feedback and to offer my creative contribution. At the heart of the gun is a scaled down Quick Dump Valve (QDV) which is Technician1002's design. Thank you! I chose this route because I wanted something sim...

I like it! It's cool to see the use of an unorthodox valve and I guess it works too! I'd be careful about mentioning tracer rounds because discussion of incendiary projectiles is prohibited. You can attach a glowstick to some ammo and that might work. Good luck with fixing all the little problems. T...
