Eh, how could the second chamber fire so early that it'd hinder performance? This was the problem with multi-chambered guns built by professionals ever since the idea was tried - hot gasses blowing by the projectile would ignite the advanced chambers prior to the passage of the projectile, this cre...

Wouldn't putting a pressure gauge in the chamber give you a fairly accurit number? I ask because i don't know. Seems to me it would, if you trust the gauge. That would give you the pressure generated in the chamber, but there are a lot more variables you need to know to calculate the thrust (recoil...

sounds good in theory but hard to produce in practice, i think your biggest problem will be the second chamber igniting prematurely and actually reducing performance. It has, of course, been tried before: http://html2.free.fr/canons/v3/cinetic.gif This is the principle behind the WW2 Nazi V3 "high p...

Some valid points there Hawkeye, to be honest I was so elated at actually getting it to work that I rested on my laurels prematurely and failed to tweak the system further. I would tend to agree that yes, a longer breech and/or a stiffer spring would make the launcher more powerful. Also, moving the...

voracity? Russ, I think he means putting the launcher of the scale when firing. In order to determine the veracity of the 30-60 lbs of thrust assertion, it's a simple question of applying Newton's Third Law - for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. basically, the momentum of the s...

Thanks for the positive feedback guys. Some more thoughts on this concept... Perhaps the bolt should be housed in a cylinder that allows it to be airtight or reasonably so as it blows back for a further distance. It looks like the air shoots the projectile and the casing back but then right away the...

Re: combustion Marble cannons ?
Is it possable to have a big enough chamber to make it fire a long way ( eg 200 meters umm or americans i think thats around a bit under a 1/4 mile ) and not get my hands blown off when it fails to escape quikly enough through the marble sized barrel pipe If you're using pressure rated PVC, not muc...

jacks, is it me or is that epoxy? if it is, you extremely gifted with the stuff, cause it seems that all your ingenious little things are made out of the stuff. Yes it is, extremely versatile material - can be frustrating to work with but it does offer a lot of possibilities that standard fittings ...
