You would use 21% of your chamber's volume for the O2 shot into the chamber, just like you use 4.2% propane. That would give you 2x worth of O2 counting the ambient fresh air to start. Is this assuming the chamber remains at 0 psi? Injecting 21% of chamber volume with O2 will displace air if the pr...

Low mix hybrid vs oxy/propane

I have designed a steel cannon and was going to use basic propane combustion. I now want to make something with a little more power than a regular advanced combustion and get the most out of the steel, but not something so powerful that spuds and other common ammo will vaporize in the barrel. The go...

High Energy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdFK5eVmZ3o&feature=related Just saw this now. Sorry to resurrect the thread, but had to say thats a BIGASS gun! Oh yeah, I've only made one gun. Its an advanced combustion and potatoes will go what seems like 200 yards or so if the shot is lucky, meaning...

Looks good so far. You do know this can be easily built with PVC without going to the expense and trouble of metal construction.... Damn voices of reason. It was fun to design, but its gonna cost so freakin much i'm afraid to even bother getting quotes. The metal might be useful for a stronger type...

The steel construction is worth it to me and probly to others as well, at least for the peace of mind. If you drop a PVC gun, you risk it failing from a friggin crack, sunlight etc. Most of all, I like the professional build quality that is to come of it. Custom structure definition and no loose end...

A glimpse of whats coming

Hi, This is my new design. Its nearing completion but is still a work in progress. I can't decide if the first version will be stainless or painted steel. I would love stainless, but it all depends on how much my buddy quotes me. Current barrel shown is a .8:1 C:B ratio. I wasn't going to post yet, ...

design question

Do you lose a lot of power when going from, say, a 4" chamber to a 2" U-bend, and then lets say you step down to 1.5" and then your barrel is 2". Does that smaller 1.5" diameter section between your chamber and your barrel constrict or bottleneck the airflow? I was thinking it shouldn't be THAT big ...

In alot of cases keeping your C:B around .8 will serve you best. It should give you great velocity and quiet down the beast. I have a 45" barrel for a 1.5:1 ratio and a 75" for a .9:1 ratio. In all honesty, the 75" barrel performs better and is alot quieter. It might differ for you like it does wit...

Yeah, sure, but you'll have to hop back in time and post it somewhere over a year and a half ago, destroying the continuity of time, etc, etc. Contest is long since over. Damn, how rediculous of me. Spudblaster15, his chamber cracked. Solid wall ABS? Damn. What happened there? Maybe PLASTIC isn't t...

Re: New barrel advice

His secondary question: About the ratio, from what i've read 1.5:1 is optimal, going with .8:1 seems to be too little. Won't the spud drag at the end of the barrel? He's worried about "spud drag"... Yes, spud drag is not good. However, unreasonably loud noise isn't good either, and since actual sil...

Re: Quick question

Wouldn't it be better to sharpen the inside of a barrel end to create a more tight fitting spud? Indeed, it's known as a double chamfer muzzle knife. You can see it being put into practise on Burnt Latke here. Like you say however, it needs to be done fairly shallow. Thanks for the response. Just a...

Quick question

Wouldn't it be better to sharpen the inside of a barrel end to create a more tight fitting spud? Or would it end up being too tight and you'd have to make the chamfer super shallow....?
