Re: Special hydraulic fitting, need help.
A slip repair coupling, but the middle replaced with a T and then made of metal for hydraulic pressure should work in making the sliding section balanced. The T would need to be long enough to keep the port covered it's full length of travel.

Re: Special hydraulic fitting, need help.
A hydraulic fitting that expands is called a hydraulic cylinder. At those pressures, it will expand under hydraulic force which is why it does not exist. A combination of either hoses or rotary swivel joints that does not change volumetric size in operation is required to be a fitting and not an act...

Generally marshmallows don't magazine feed well for several reasons. Weight, shape, and compressability. If the magazine becomes compressed, the flow of air into the magazine will relocate the marshmallows. The change in pressure will change the marshmallow"s size. Expect frequent magazine jams. Mag...

Re: Basically, will this QEV set up work?
Hmm Interesting configuration. Never thought of that configuration, but it looks promising. This would allow a very fast fill if you used a quick connect instead of a tire valve, and permit retaining the chamber charge while triggering the QEV. I like it. Great Idea. Other than impossible to disasse...

Re: Basically, will this QEV set up work?
Without a minor modification it would not work. The reason is the pilot would always be at 0 PSI so it will always be in fire mode when you try to fill it. A small port is needed to bleed some pressure into the pilot. This can be done using a small refrigeration type capilary tube salvaged from a ba...

Re: Question on Boyle's law and how to use it for pumps/psi
In Boyl's law the pressure is directly ralated to volume unless a gas condences. For example if you have a pump 1/2 the volume of a chamber, at atmospheric pressure, after one stroke the chamber will contain 1.5 chamber volumes of air for 1.5 Atm of air pressure. If the chamber and pump are the same...

Re: Question on Boyle's law and how to use it for pumps/psi
You are on track. Remember that the pressure when working with gases has to be Absolute, so after one pump your final pressure is close in theory. 3 things to consider when moving theory to the real world. 1 The pump is not 100% effecient. Some of the pump stroke will remain in the pump and re-expan...

Re: Deciding barrel length
I have done some barrel length vs pressure testing on a much larger bore t shirt launcher. There is a point of diminsihed returns even to the point of negative returns. If you would like to see the test, this covers it. This proceedure will not work on metal launchers unfortunatly. https://inteltrai...

Vera should be fuel agnoistic. There is no reason it could not run methane, propane, natural gas, etc. I would not want to be around if you tried welding gas or Hydrogen/Oxygen mixes.

Re: What guage wire?
Yeah I thought that the 19 million volts was ridiculous. I read that Amps determines what gauge wire to use for wiring, not volts. I saw a chart that said anything under 9 amps and 4 ft long, 12 gauge wire is fine. I also read all stun guns just have 4-5 milliamps because 1 amp can easily kill. DYI...

Re: Electric solenoid valve as main air valve for airgun?
The wide variation in opening times is mostly due to the material the valve handles in the spec. it lists air as well as water. This alone is the bulk of the variance. Pressure will have some influence, but I'm not sure how much.

Re: Indirect solenoid valve speed
The valve should be faster at higher pressure. It would be slower and even not fully open at lower pressure. The very wide range in time is due to the material it handles. It works with air, water, or hydraulic fluid. Liquids will have slower speeds.

Here is the link to the thread on high speed empty soda cans. Don't jump ahead. Start at the beginning and follow the progression of the thread to learn the most. Page two has the setup I used to make the flat can. http://www.spudfiles.com/pneumatic-cannons/topic21132.html?hilit=steel%20plate%20can%...

Re: Help With A Few Parameters In GDDT
The first picture with a bunch of cans isn't mine, the single can is my photo. It was shot about 6 feet from the cannon into a 1/4 inch steel plate. I should hunt up the thread later and post a pic of the setup.

Re: What guage wire?
19 thousand or 19 million? High tension lines strung from towers are rarely over 1 million becasue the air will break down and it leaks away. Most high voltage power lines (the big ones) are typically 1/2 megavolt maximum. Linked is an example of what less than 1 megavolt will do. Your module will n...
