Re: My Piston Hybrid

Nope! That's not what I said at all  Well I think it is :) It seems the issue is that I have decided upon a naming convention that isn't standard. Sorry for the confusion. What I mean by pilot is the size of the piston (or rather piston housing) and what you call the pilot, I call the vent. I...

Re: My Piston Hybrid

Simply put, your pilot is too small relative to your barrel.

MrCrowley said it all if you want less simply. However I think it is easier to analyse by simply comparing the size of the barrel to the side of the piston housing to the size of the rear vent.

delete your systems temporary data (which is probably the culprit here) Second this, and everything mark.f said. But for general interest, this program is good to see if there is a big file lurking somewhere on the computer, then you can decide if it is needed or not. Also has a nice graphic on wha...

Re: Ebay 5$ ignition combustion

I found you can power these from a 9V battery safely, at least for short amounts of times, which is all we typically need. I don't want to be responsible for anyone frying their modules, but it does help save space and makes the spark a bit more angry. Initially I tried using a single AA battery, wh...

Re: Dead volume and the sound barrier

This concept is similar to one I have been wanting to test for some time, its ironic that this discussion seemed to gain traction in the thread initially based on my existing gun. I think that you are in a position where you can test this more easily than me. As far as my brief thinking has gone on ...

Re: 6mm piston valve air gun

In the past I have marked out a distance, say 10 metres, placed some audio recording device at the mid point, and shot at a target over this distance. Then by using audacity (a computer program) measuring the time between audio spikes you can calculate the average speed. Having the audio device in t...

Re: 6mm piston valve air gun

no videos? I will get around to making some videos of putting some holes in stuff. 150 psi Yea, it is a shame. I have been meaning to get some better quality quick connect fittings, my current one leaks and about 120psi is the steady state of air in to air out, with effort I estimate I can get this...

6mm piston valve air gun

I have been around here for awhile now so its about time I posted something that isn't off topic.. final.JPG This is my first attempt at making an air gun, many years ago I made a fairly large spray and pray cannon out of DWV. It was pretty powerful and fun, but its unpredictability and concerns for...

Shoes.
You can find them everywhere and they often contain plenty of rubber. Play around with different glues until you find a combination that works.

Its the annual household contents purge around here at the moment.

Found two fridge compressors, both in working order, and in another hobby, three giant Fresnel lenses. That said two of them are no good for the purpose I have in mind.

A metered combustion cannon may give you a slightly more portable launcher as there is no need for a pump, which could be important for a search and rescue team?
It may tread on more laws than a pneumatic though, depending on where you are.

Anyone care about what the US and UK seem to be planning on doing? Trying to keep an unbiased viewpoint is pretty difficult, somewhere between the extremes of western and eastern media. My question is how some nations are prepared to mobilse forces on allegations with no proof yet, without having s...
