Re: 3D printing, dream ironically fleshed out :)
Unlike plastic guns, the cost of the equipment needed to make this would buy you the stock of a small gun store. Very true. But the media really doesn't care much. If they can blow it into a good story, they will, regardless of the facts. Look at that first plastic printed gun. The thing was UTTERL...

Re: machined APFSDS projectiles
@POLAND_SPUD. What has that got to do with it? As a matter of fact, the closer the target, the less time the fins have to correct the tumble. I'm saying that the last expansion of gas sort of pops the fins, causing a severe tumble.

Re: machined APFSDS projectiles
JSR, JSR, JSR!! Having noticed that all your darts that look like they should fly perfectly are not doing so, took a closer look. They look like rockets, not bullets, so aerodynamics says they should fly nicely. But the one that pierced the steel plate had heavier METAL fins on the back. That got me...

Re: 3D printing, dream ironically fleshed out :)
@Labtecpower. Very cool, but now every news agency in the world is going to be having fits about "printable metal guns". Great. @Dart Guy. Unless you are doing low velocity or extremely loose-fitting projectiles, I doubt you'll be able to find any kind of plastic that will do the job. I guess high-s...

Re: I'm alive too!
@ Labtecpower. Yep. The bigger the better. Reminds me of a story my mom likes to tell. One time, some idiot kid, who did not have a drivers licence, slammed into our 2002 Chevy Van while mom was backing it out in the parking lot. The dork was SPEEDING in the parking lot. Anyway, the van is the 15 pa...

Re: I'm alive too!
@Talk. I was attempting to make a joke, to rationalize my inability to afford a brand-new car. :) @Poland_spud. Were you talking to me? Politically correct? ROTFL. I'm about as far from that as you can get. I'm just telling it like I see it. Of course, that viewpoint could be skewed by three aunts a...

Re: I'm alive too!
@POLAND_SPUD. I've seen just as many male drivers as female that shouldn't be allowed on the road. There were probably a hundred different factors that, if changed, could have had a guy hitting him instead. @PC-GUY. DANG. You were either very lucky or very unlucky, depending on which way you want to...

Re: Bit of help with hammer valve
All your points are valid ones. I am not looking for a rival to an AEG in performance, because I know that just isn't going to happen. In the terms of user knowing how to use and fix, that actually isn't applicable. We play in our back pasture; when a gun breaks or stops, the whole game stops and th...

Re: Short question topic
Well, it depends. Find the folder the program installed in. It should have an uninstaller program that you just run. If it doesn't have one, you should be able to just delete the folder and then re-install.

Re: Short question topic
Try completely uninstalling it, then re-installing it. That error means that it the program is looking for a file common to Windows, but can't find it. The most likely problem is an installation problem.

Re: Bit of help with hammer valve
No offence, Gun Freak, but you aren't quite correct there. A good AEG (In my terms) would cost upwards of 200$. I have already built decent airsoft spring guns without breaking the bank. Frankly, I'll learn more from building it myself, I'll be able to fix it, and I'll be able to tune it. Also, I ca...

Re: Bit of help with hammer valve
So basically you are saying I need two expansion chambers. One to expand out the barrel and the other to push back the hammer. They are filled at the same time, then separated as the hammer pops back due to the spring on the valve. Yes?
Methinks I need a more detailed schematic. Suggestions?

Re: Bit of help with hammer valve
Ouch. Reality strikes again. Ok, given that you say that the gas escapes too fast, how does the paintball gun manage it?

Re: Bit of help with hammer valve
So, I'm thinking something like this. The small exit port should allow enough time for the compressed air to push the hammer back to it's appropriate point. A sear would catch it, readying it for the next shot, or if the trigger was held, the hammer would simply fly back down to repeat the cycle.

Very nice. This is quite a nice 6mm build. How many shots do you get with one airtank?
