You could also try mounting it behind the seat and adding an extra sprocket to you tire and chain drive it. It would be more efficient.

Yea i actually took 2 socks and wodded them up and stuffed them inside of the adapter so it wasnt attached to the piston. I dont know if the socks are a good choise but it seems to work so far.
