Re: Possible AC Scroll Compressor Conversion?

If you find the spec sheet for the compressor it will say if it needs a start or a run capacitor. If running for a long time on a wrong sized run capacitor I think you run the risk of burning out the windings.

Re: Possible AC Scroll Compressor Conversion?

I think the ratio of scroll vs reciprocating compressors comes down to number of fridges vs number of heat-pump/air con units. Scrolls are used in heat-pumps/air-conditioning units where the temperatures don't need to be dropped as far in refrigerators. Refrigerators use reciprocating piston compres...

Re: Propane Sensor Fuel Metering

I had thought about making an electronic fuelling device, using a pressure transducer and a meter pipe. Could be further automated with solenoid valves, but how close do you want your flammable gasses to your electricity? Further ideas I had; The mix number can be controlled with a dial (rotary enco...

Re: Drone?

Put one of these on it. you can buy a very low resolution version from sparkfun. a board that connects the ESCs and battery (I think? Dunno the name of it), radio control and receiver. I think I need something else, like the APM 2.6 you spoke Pretty su...

Re: Drone?

It depends how you define build yourself. I recommend against starting from etching your own PCBs haha. Or even programming the control systems. I have been wanting to build one for about a year now. On the team black sheep website there are some pdf documents that have lots of info, shows something...

I guess that asks an interesting question;
What is the most expensive 'home' cannon on this site? ('home' excludes the likes of VERA...)

Re: fuel question H2 O2 or Hair spray

Is this to be used in New Zealand? If yes: In New Zealand a firearm is defined in the 1983 arms act as " anything from which any shot, bullet, missile, or other projectile can be discharged by force of explosive " So this would include anything homemade. It is my understanding that to own an...

Re: Gas strut hand pump idea

There is this example from ookook.
I have been wanting to experiment with this, however I pretty much have a limitless and virtually free supply of fridge compressors and the gas strut option was pretty expensive from my initial research. (once shipping was included)

That's a different design to one I made a few years back from cans. I drilled way to many holes for the flames. You know, teenage mentality, 'MORE IS BETTER!!!'

Turns out it wasn't.

How much fuel was left once the pot was boiling?

Sounding good. Are you an engineer by any chance? The naming and lingo would suggest so :P .
