Yeah, that's how I learned about PVC fittings and such, but with the price of copper/brass being so dang high these days, I really want to find something that works the first time. I'm sure I want a bigger pump that a shock. Ever since I read about Jack's little micro-pneumatics and how long it took...

I'd never seen that on a piston gun before, so I thought I was the first one! Oh well, I should have learned better than to say something like that, knowing how this hobby works. But just to be clear, the 2" piston tee is connected to a female threaded coupler at the front, and the barrel goe...

I mostly shoot potatoes, paintballs, and marbles. The paintballs and marbles need extensive wadding. I've tried a few nail darts, with varied results. The ones I made with paper cones disintegrated. I need to make some plastic ones eventually. I also built a 3/4" CPVC barrel for paintballs, but it s...

Thanks greatly, Hawkeye! That's just what I was looking for. I'd seen a pump with a similar principle of using the o-ring that seals one way and not another, but I wasn't sure if a single o-ring would be enough for that kind of pressure. Also, yeah, if 3/4" pipe can can get 350psi, that ought to be ...

Oops, good catch, Hawkeye.
The blue rag on the barrel is the ghetto shoulder rest.
Yeah, it's pretty big. I like it that way though: I don't own a compressor so my pneumatics are generally pretty small. This gun is how I get my kicks when I feel like I need a power trip. :tw...

@pyro: I'm not sure I understand you. My left hand is holding the bracing block that goes between the chamber and barrel, I guess that's what you were calling the handle. The trigger/handle that I have in my right hand is a blowgun. The PVC hanging off the barrel in front of my left hand was suppose...

Heh, those 'cheep' compressors are such crap, mine has a 300 psi pressure gauge and it can hardly make 120psi. I'm planning on pumping up a fair large gun (say 2 or 3 feet of 1.25" or 1.5" steel pipe, for a multishot bb/pellet gun I'm planning), so I want to have stand-up pump rather than a small ha...

Thanks! It's a five foot stick, that's all I could find. It's pretty dang long; the whole gun is 6 feet or so. It's also pretty heavy to be holding with the center of gravity that far out.

This sounds like a better idea than your previous cartridge pneumatic! I always like to see what Jack comes up with; you seem to have some of the more creative ideas around here. Is flow going to be a problem with the cartridges? Your cartridge barrel is necessarily going to be a great deal smaller ...

High pressure pump

I'm thinking about building a pump to get 400 psi. I'd probably use 1/2" copper pipe for the body of the pump. Based on what Hawkeye has said, I think I'll try to use a schrader valve for the check valve at the bottom of the pump. But I'm not sure how to make a valve to draw air into the pump on the...

The Pwnager

This is my ghetto shoulder-fired combustion launcher. The name is a reference to the onager, a kind of wild mule that is said to give a vicious kick. (It has a kick alright, but you don't notice it too much unless you shoot it from the hip.) It's also a throwback to the 'onager' catapult in Age of E...

It's a long piston. It has a endcap at either end, and inbetween there is a male-female threaded connection to allow the piston to be taken apart to service the check valve and piston face. Also, there's a reduction at the end of the piston housing that goes down to 1" pipe to attatch to the sprinkl...

Negotiator 3

This is the Negotiator 3. It's a 3/4" porting 1.25" piston valve gun, actuated by a blowgun. The barrel is 3/4" EMT. The 1.25" Tee allows for using 3/4" sch40 coupler and endcap for the piston, and the gap between those two creates an o-ring grove. sorry for the fuzzy pic. http://photos-b.ak.faceboo...

Bertha

We call her Big Bertha, for lack of a better name. And it stuck. This gun was a joint project between myself and some of my good friends, pictured here. http://photos-b.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sctm/v97/202/98/141102149/n141102149_30318949_6633.jpg The barrel is 6' of 1.5" sch40, chamber is 4' of 3...
