I actually thought it would never work after I measured center of gravity but I have had great success with this round. The sabot system is short dowel wrapped in duct tape as the pusher plate and carved Styrofoam as the guides. I am firing this thing out of my 1.5" sprinkler gun.

A while back I ordered some nichrome for this exact same purpose. I do have to warn you though. It must be supported and not knocked around because when it is red hot it is very fragile.

Like Heimo said; it is very important to look at the bed, especially near the chuck because their may be a dip from excessive use. Also check the lead screw for wear.

The rotary selector switch is just for "safe" "semi" "full". A circuit for bursts would be good though... A rotary switch with a 565 was how I* set up my repeater to get full/semi/3 shot and safe. The only problem is that nice steel pipes are mostly distributed by companies that are not interested in selling to individuals I would do some more looking online, Try speedymetals or onlinemetals, I was able to get a 18" segments of aluminum with .25" wall thickness for only $20 and that was 3.75...

Yes, Propane is actually recommended for combustion guns.
edit: The best way to use propane in your gun would be to construct a meter to ensure consistent shots. Check out the how to section for tips in building your own

Isn't this a bolt action not a semi auto? In the video you seem to operate a bolt and there is no obvious autoloading mechanism.

@moonbog Yes, they work very well. The mini ones fit 1-1/2" pvc very well and they have pretty good range.
