Re: Converting torch head to threaded fitting
The other issue with the syringe option is that one of my chambers is rather large and I calculate it would need more than 100 mls of fuel. So it's inelegant and a pain in this case.

Re: Converting torch head to threaded fitting
Awesome, was that number from a public resource or from memory?
It's only 11.1mm (0.437") so I think I might have to consider something along the lines of #2.

Re: Converting torch head to threaded fitting
I wish, alas I need it to convert to schrader and have the pressure to fill when I press the tyre-fill fitting to said schrader valve. I am just thinking about cutting off the torch head and using a die to make a 1/4 BSP thread . This is something I've not done before - what diameter do I need my to...

Converting torch head to threaded fitting
Torch head.JPG So I have this blowtorch head which allows me to get gas from my MAP-Pro cannister. It's great but as you can see below it's not very elegant, because it needs a long, thick hose to prevent kinks. DSC00157.JPG I remember when I built it I had a terrible headache trying to go from can...

Re: new to this and a little confused about valves
Hi mattyg, I'm having a little trouble working out what you're asking. You want to know what kind of valve is best to trigger a QEV for semi-auto use? Perhaps you could post the video you're basing your design on? Also I recommend writing your posts in a program like microsoft word as it does all th...

Re: ideas on what I could do with this.
How do you feel about soldering copper? Personally I wouldn't bother with this because compression fittings add more weight than is necessary.
Definitely a PITA to return it but as ragnarok says you are within your rights.

Ooops, forgot to mention - it was in the title. The chamber and barrel are actually acrylic. I felt comfortable because despite the reduced impact strength, it is still a strong material, and 5mm wall thickness is pretty tough for a relatively un-optimised cannon. Yeah, I am really pleased with the ...

Simple Clear Combustion.
I had some spare time in the workshop and some acrylic pipe hanging around so I thought I'd put together a nice cannon. What else could I do with it!? It's a 90mm chamber with 40mm barrel, using PVC fittings. PVC cement is sufficient for bonding the plastics. Both the chamber and barrel are 5mm wall...

Spark strips from metal foil adhesive tape
So I've recently been less interesting in record-breakingly powerful cannons and more interested in reliable, safe cannons which I can take to BBQs and easily allow others to use and understand. It's therefore important to me that the cannons are easily maintained and very easy to use. I had some fo...

In the UK stun guns and their ilk are firmly illegal, and frankly they're a bit big and use an unnecessary amount of current. Battery BBQ grill igniters have traditionally been a pain to find, and piezo igniters with a good spark length are impossible to find to buy. I've had good luck with salvaged...

Perhaps we should have an igniters megathread? This was the most recent I could find. In the UK, where stun guns are illegal, getting a good spark generator is a real PITA. Piezo igniters have pathetic sparks, and electric BBQ igniters seem hard to find. I was having a look on ebay and I found this ...
