Harsh. I've had dozens of sprinkler valves and never did I have a problem with a diaphragm not sealing.

For what it's worth (and I have no idea where you are), there's a Home Despot (cough) that has a sale on Toro Sprinkler valves, 20% off all irrigation products. This is in Chicago, IL.

I'm interested in seeing how well your piston performs -- I made one similar to what yours, except for inside a 2" tee. Maybe if you get the chance, take a picture of your piston assembly. :)

How'd you port the inside of the tee, is that the coupler you mentioned?

Looks like you have just one section of pipe with an elbow on the end. I meant efficient in that you used a very small number of parts. :)

Now that's efficient... I thought your barrel said "meow" on it. Honestly, that woulda been a better name. :)

I was going to say, that's an interesting use of the union. Since you ditched the idea of doing a hybrid, perhaps you could use that chamber with different combustion cannons.

I attempted to make a muzzle break similar to what Pete Zaria describes, but I felt it made little difference. I wanted to do some actual testing by seeing how much recoil was removed, but I just never got around to it. I was going to do this by putting my gun on a 4-wheeled carriage, and see how fa...

That's actually kinda cool, the only thing I'd do is strap the chamber and barrel to a narrow strip of wood to minimize the stress on the fittings going into that sprinkler valve. :)

Yeah I would too, because when I apply it to my 4" barrels I plan on making shell casings and it'd actually be kinda cool to have it fall out of the breech when I pop it open after a shot. :) At this time, I don't have a working digital camera but I plan on getting one sometime, probably after my we...

I think a large ball-valve would be more feasable, but I didn't want the overall length to be much more than 2-3 inches. But with a ramrod, it wouldn't be so bad; so I'll just have to load like large-caliber naval artillery. :) However, I'm going to try the coupling as well, and see how that feels. ...

I've seen Joel's lathe that he uses to make the lands in PVC, but it was a very exotic setup that I can't even totally remember (I was just impressed that he didn't have to park his car in his garage, considering the insane amount of cabinets and machinery he had. hehe)

Development of a breech design

Hi there, I'm a long-time watcher, first time poster -- I just couldn't resist getting back in the fray of spudguns after being inactive for over 5 years. Anyway, I've looked through the pneumatic cannon database and saw pretty much every entry made. Most of the guns which aren't muzzle-loading seem...

I just noticed something... Is everything labeled sanitary pretty much DWV? Pretty much. Around here, all of the major suppliers carry only dwv fittings for anything 2"+, with a few exceptions like couplers and end caps. There's a plumbing/HVAC supplier a few miles from where I am; that's where I g...
