Good luck, I think it might be possible that this holds up. I wouldn`t hold it but its right there on the limit. I work with hydraulics and you would be amazed to see the wear parts sustain before they fail under normal hydraulic applications (250Bar) However, I personally would make something to ke...

IMO it is just canals for the gas to escape around the projectile in most cases

cast fullbore fin units. I actually doubt it would be strong enough if I don`t reinforce it with a steel plate or something. There is easier ways to make this work but I want to make it like this because it looks good, is solid and should be fool proof if made correctly. Good idea! That certainly w...

Good test, I was worried about the gaps created by cutting, that`s why I thought about casting when I was going to do it full scale. I have to use threads as that is the best solution that is readily available IMO. This pretty much proved the thread part to be sound and that is really all I wanted t...

That would be nice, document it properly
If possible, could you first test it at low velocity and try to capture the moment of separation? Might reveal ways of improving the design :)

The design looks solid and good, i will see if I find some of the nails when I get home and give you the dimentions :)

Thanks

I think you'd want absolutely minimal back pressure from your exhaust port, especially on this design that doesn't have an actual valve. You wouldn`t get any. If you run the exhausted gas through a exhaust pipe and then have the compressor charge from a tee fitting on that pipe. This way there is n...

Pretty impressive, looks like lots of fun and with co2 it does have some power potential. Could have a small compressor charging the exhaust gas back into the tank. Atleast some of it.
Someone should machine out a cylinder and piston with large diameter and a shallow stroke.

How many youtube videos will it take, I wonder. YOU FAIL, you have to film the loading process for the pneubs to see the picture! IWOST: Ordered a compression gauge with a one way push button valve, probably have to add a third even smaller piston valve to the gun to make it sensitive enough though.

 That round should be used in the M2 Browning, total devastation would be the results.. Guess wind is a problem if it gets a good hold on the fins as it will yaw the flechette slightly and change its direction.. Is that sabot solid? Looks strange but is probably necessary so they wont separat...

Damn, I am not used to this forum thing anymore, forget to reply! Turned out the compressor is not the problem, I drilled and threaded a hole in the casing to be sure it is properly grounded but the problem did not resolve. However when I took the compressor inside from the shop it does not electroc...

I has hybrids to, but for general poking holes in stuff a pneumatic is more fun. IWOST: the high pressure is messing with my piston sealing face.. I used a half of a brass union for soldering to copper pipes that fits perfectly inside my valve seat to make a bigger surface for the piston to rest on,...

When I look another time I see recoil reducing potential here..
The piston should counteract the recoil force once it comes to a stop.

It's pretty much what I had suggested to you here Yes, I just couldnt imagine it in 6mm. However it makes more sense after seeing the other thread :P Could give it a go on a smallish scale. What calibre options do you have? Ouch, I haven`t ever precisely managed to remember my calibers. I have the ...
