Re: Is spudding dead?
I definitely agree that social media is detrimental to our hobby, but some sites still have some interesting information. I always find interest and innovative ideas on 4chan and even 8chan, but the threads don't seem to last long before they get overwritten by the immense mass of spam.

What's the best way to calculate performance for something like this in HGDT?
All three barrels are connected to the same combustion chamber and share the same ignition.

Re: Any Canadians?
Most teens I know are obsessed with sports or instagram. Although, they do get excited when I fire combustion spud guns. They just don’t seem to want to BUILD one. I've also noticed this among my peers, it seems like people nowadays are more willing to watch things than to do things. When I ask my ...

I'm not one to usually kick up dead topics, but I've been gone a while. :D Don't worry, I was planning on kicking up this thread once I'm finished with this semester. I didn't make the golfball bazooka ( http://www.spudfiles.com/combustion-cannons/topic26890.html#p386065 ) just for butane  I'...

Re: Help finding a valve for my airgun
Solenoid valves aren't the best option for that much pressure, especially unmodified ones. A QEV valve (look them up on amazon) can usually hold much more pressure than they're rated for (but be careful either way) and open extremely quickly. Better yet would be to make your own piston valve, which ...

I had a friend who once made a TKOR style furnace and we tried lost foam casting aluminum but they always came out so grainy and rough. Do you coat your foam in a porcelain or plaster before embedding it in sand? Or did you just find the finest sand possible?

You can also pour molten wax into a section of pipe of any diameter to make a wax slug!
You can make quite the amount of variation to them as well.

Sadly they're pretty expensive so you won't want to fire them anywhere where you may lose them.

OD Green would be traditional, and I would go for a cheap Chinese red dot or low magnification scope on the side, have a look at recoilless rifles for inspiration . Good idea! I have both of those on hand right now! Hopefully I'll be able to find a way to make dovetails for my scope to attach to th...

IMG_20181220_112643.jpg Made great progress! :D Took the advice and used a T-fitting cut with a piece of pipe cut in half. I didn't bother with the heat bending and just hot glued the module to the sliced pipe and it was sturdy enough. I also added a foregrip for stability, zip tied the wires down ...

Re: Sleek Streamlined Golfball Launcher
Nice, how are you metering the fuel? Took your advice and used syringe metering, so far it works great. The thing likes to eat 20mL of butane and HGDT says I should be getting over 300fps with that! Tee connection on the barrel? I thought about using a T-fitting with a slot cut in it to fit the ign...

Sleek Streamlined Golfball Launcher
I wanted to make a combustion cannon that would not only have great performance, but also would be sleek and durable with an endless supply of high performance ammo. So I decided to make this. The cannon is a 4 foot piece of 2" Sch. 80 PVC with a 3 foot long section of 1.5" sdr21 shoved into it to m...
