Re: Semiauto Nerf Rival with no moving parts.

This system worked perfectly for me, which is what makes 25 bb's of lead rise, caliber .22 in my replica of MAC 11. https://www.spudfiles.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=26856I used a small flow regulator to regulate the amount of air that rises through the tube that it keeps ammunition. What I don't like ...

Re: Semiauto Nerf Rival with no moving parts.

ok I understand. I plan to use around that pressure that you use, 7 or 8 bar, because much more is more complicated for me. In the future I will build it. Good idea of yours to arrange the tube that houses the balls at an angle, because it is comfortable and aesthetically good. Placing it at 90ยบ wit...

Re: Whats best valving for pneumatics

A piston valve works well, and you can build it yourself. Actually, it is quite simple.

This type of valve releases the air very quickly.

Potato Howitzer

I just finished building a wheeled potato "howitzer" out of spare parts. It works pretty well, although I need to take it somewhere a bit more rural for testing once it's legit to travel around again. 1.jpg 2.jpg Youtube vid: https://youtu.be/ocxYe_j6nOw It's got the standard 2" barrel & 4" chamber ...

Re: Semiauto Nerf Rival with no moving parts.

Very nicely done! I really like the magazine lid.

A practical implementation of the valveless/popoff concept.

Re: How to make an Air cannon sound cooler/louder?

In my experience it amplifies the noise significantly for the shooter too.

Re: "In the world of spuds today"

Apparently it was a "hot" loaded round, he was very lucky that one of those lugs didn't kill him.

Re: "In the world of spuds today"

Apparently it was a "hot" loaded round, he was very lucky that one of those lugs didn't kill him. That's what he thought, but there was a bit more going on. The sabot material was building up in the barrel, and the signs where there, he did say the shots were going off target and the recoil felt di...

Re: Tennis ball launcher

I think it will too. For whatever it's worth, I say mount the barrel with the seam at the top and pray for a backspin. :D

Re: Tennis ball launcher

Very cool. I made a tennis ball cannon in high school from a rolled and welded sheet like that. It worked perfectly and I bet yours will too.

Re: Rate my cannon

Nice cannon. You're taking a significant risk by using PVC with that much pressure inside. It can fail within it's rated pressure for no apparent reason because it's plastic and it tends to be fragile. It won't just crack, split or tear, but it will fragment and explode in your face. Wear safety gog...

Re: The Offcial Machinist Thread: Revised 01/04/2014

Busy with life so not much in the way of spudding but I did indulge in a bit of lathe time for something a little more artistic for... reasons. Now that I no longer have a laboratory to appropriate concentrated acids from, I tried my hand at salt water etching and while it's not as deep as what I wa...

Re: Tennis ball launcher

Sorry for late response, just a heads up.

2-3/4" exhaust pipe from any auto parts store has a Inside Diameter of 2-5/8ths of a inch. ($30 to $50 for a ten foot piece.)
A tennis ball fits perfectly into them.

A tale of two valves

I'll cut to the chase, if you or a friend still use sprinkler valves show them this, I'll try to get a video to prove it if necessary. I built these two cannons with a friend who wanted to make an air Cannon. The small one was made for ping pong balls but my friend really wanted to try shooting tenn...
