Re: pages won't open

Alright guys, at a new host - still sorting a few small things out for transitioning server/settings/etc but our white pages seemed to have immediately disappeared!

Re: pages won't open

There have been some email delivery issues the past few days, which should now all be resolved. Let me know if any other troubles come up!

A few graphical things I want to take care of as well. Not sure if I can handle avatars on the right verses the left!

Re: Concerning video of a Piston Valve Cannon bursting

Also, if you decide to make a combustion cannon, there is a particular fuel that you should avoid at all costs. Almost every time a combustion cannon explodes in someone's hands, it's because they used propain instead of propane.

Mechanically actuated quick dump valve

To get myself to build some stuff again I decided to slap a cannon together in my lunch break, with all designing and calculating done on the fly. I noticed that the projects where I spend a lot of time designing and preparing often don't actually end up being built at all.. Basically this is a quic...

Re: PVC Primer/Glue says DO NOT TEST WITH AIR

Go to the thread below and scroll down a bit. Click the zip file for GGDT. It stands for Gas Gun Design Tool. The other one is HGDT (Hybrid Gun Design Tool). Hybrid's are pressurized propane and air cannons and are a different beast altogether. Anyway, get familiar with GGDT and entering inputs for ...

Re: PVC Primer/Glue says DO NOT TEST WITH AIR

I looked at the GGDT program and it doesn't appear to have an option to calculate the maximum range in which it will be able to fire which is in my opinion the whole point of the software.. The point of the program is to have an idea of what your muzzle velocity will be. As for maximum range, that ...

Re: Piston Valves Explained Visually

I'm concerned they had 90psi in it  Bracing the barrel to the chamber would have helped, but still PVC is PVC and it will happen, this guy will find you :o

Re: JSR's workshop chronicles

Do you have a threading dial on your carriage? They save an awful lot of pissing about - without one, you need to stop the machine, reverse back to your starting position, feed in a bit, rerun your thread, lather rinse repeat until done, all without disengaging the carriage feed. This puts extra st...

Re: stainless steel tube burst pressure

Mr Foo hit on the major point...the ends are where most failures occur first, and it can be pretty dramatic...even deadly. Wasn't too long ago that a fellow was working on a modified Benjamin Discovery and had the valve blow nearly through his thigh...barely missing the femoral artery. Another fello...

Re: stainless steel tube burst pressure

I follow his same philosophy, and up to now I have my two eyes and my ten fingers. :D I didn't used to, but I have had a few close shaves, and each time you realize how lucky you were and do things differently next time. Apart from being sure of your pressurized fittings, one thing that applies to ...

A not very interesting video I made is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpwiL3BgiIY That was actually an amusing and informative watch, I can see why you thought my workshop was more organized... obviously you've just been at it longer J'ai aussi apprécié le contraste avec le bloke anglais pottering...
