Re: A brand-new ignition method
I am sure that what you propose will work well, it is an interesting solution. it must only be ensured that the intermediate rupture disc is destroyed at a pressure greater than the mixture pressure in the higher pressure combustion chamber. The practical limit is when the low pressure chamber needs...

Re: A brand-new ignition method
If in a closed chamber I manage to introduce propane and compressed air within the range of stoichiometric proportions, at 100 bar, with a proper ignition, will it explode? :? With the right ignition it should, and we have proof :) I don't know if you're aware of this example that was shooting at u...

Re: Questions about pressure and flow rate
Assuming that there are two combustion chambers A and B, the volume of A is twice that of B, and the initial pressure of B is twice that of A, then theoretically, A and B should use the same amount of fuel, so their calorific values should be the same. Then the question comes, which one, A and B, c...

Re: Questions about pressure and flow rate
theoretically, A and B should use the same amount of fuel, so their calorific values should be the same. They use the same amount of fuel, but B generates higher pressure and will therefore outperform A by a considerable margin, because projectile acceleration will be greater. Edit: here is a compa...

Re: Failure to break through 10mm steel plate
picture thread for reference , that is extremely impressive, congratulations! Can it be compared with the 7.62×39mm intermediate rifle bullet? I know that the bullet fired by ak47 can pierce a 10mm steel plate, but the cross-sectional area of the bullet is different, which will affect the penetrati...

Re: Failure to break through 10mm steel plate
About the only way you're really going to get an idea of muzzle energy is to run it through a chronograph, or if you don't have access to one, shoot into a ballistic pendulum. The latter is very easy to set up; with a mobile phone as camera ad some calculations you can get some very accurate results...

Mixing number: 150 Projectile diameter: 12mm Projectile mass: 7g Tube length: 100cm Combustion chamber volume: 20cc Target: 10mm a3 steel plate. This is a picture of a 12mm steel ball impacting a 10mm steel plate. The bullet is embedded in the steel plate and cannot be removed. There is a bulge on ...

Re: Failure to break through 10mm steel plate
This is just a guess but I would say roughly 1100J of energy at muzzle. Few years ago I experimented quite a bit with high mix hybrids and figured out some formulas that can be used to estimate muzzle energy.
