Re: Gel block calibration BB gun

I'd buy a high-end PCP airgun and swap the barrel with a smooth one for BBs Honestly that sounds like a sensible solution, and it doesn't even need to be a high end gun. My understanding is that you need to fire a 0.177” steel BB into the gelatin at a velocity of 590 +/- 15 feet per second, I would...

Re: Hybrid pumped weapon project

I can pierce 0,7 mm sheet steel
That's quite impressive for lead pellets to be honest.

Have you tried with more than two layers of foil?

It's dirty, fast and WORKS ;)
It used to be that we heard this attitude from North American users while efficiency was more of a European thing, how the tables have turned :D

Re: "In the world of spuds today"

https://youtu.be/2B2ZEN2Qu-Q Quite an interesting achievement but they really need to optimize the projectiles. The velocities they are getting are in the 200 feet per second range which is more arrow than airgun territory, although admittedly that's with projectiles five times heavier than your typ...

Re: Hybrid pumped weapon project

I keep forgetting that you have the constraint of an urban area for testing :D The only thing that doesn't convince me is that the "skirt" of the pellet is "welded" to the target plate, it doesn't pass, only the "head" of the pellet passes to the other side... look at the photo I remember a similar ...

CHEAP, UGLY AND FUNCTIONAL! :)
There is a caveat in that "pretty is as pretty does", so when something is functional, there is a certain beauty in it regardless of its aesthetic attributes.

Re: "Offtopic-posts-topic" NSFW

A really excellent video from 1969 following Master Gunsmith Wallace Gusler as he builds a flintlock rifle from start to finish using traditional tools and techniques: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTy3uQFsirk Seeing someone make their own screws using only hand tools makes you realize just how mu...

Re: Hybrid pumped weapon project

That's an impressive difference, there is certainly a lot more power potential, but really what I like about your projects is the functionality. Keep in mind that your post you name here is my bible on this. I not only remember it, I have it complete in a word, on my pc and on a DVD... It is exactly...

Re: Strong boy, (hybrid compressed to muscle)

Great to see it in action! Brilliant idea and execution, as we have come to expect from your stable :) and there's something quite nice about a single stroke of raw muscle power providing the compression.

Re: Hammer & QEV Valve Questions

Welcome to the forum! I suggest you download Gas Gun Design Tool as it's the best way to be able to calculate approximate performance figures and work out what parameters you need to tweak. I was thinking maybe a Quick Exhaust Valve that is actuated by a hammer valve? That's one possibility, it depe...

Re: Valve selection

I contacted SMC about my project and they are donating a pair of their 1.5" Pulse valves and some solenoid activated pilot valves to activate them. Rep is bringing them by today. I'm hoping one of them will work. Guaranteed to work, basically overkill for a t-shirt launcher which is good because yo...

Re: Single-pump handgun

I plan to print them in 3D, when the time comes. That's good to hear, do you have your own 3D printer or have access to one? Something that I would like to try, is to build one with two cannons, which compress one first and the other later, and you have two shots, it would be a more interesting toy...
