wow is supersonic!! :o
I imagine some of your creations also exceed the speed of sound ;) even though your projects focus mostly on function and not maximum performance.

Re: Whats best valving for pneumatics

Would the quickness of releasing the slide valve make any difference on a QEV to the speed of the projectile being launched. Faster piloting means faster valve opening which means better performance, to a point. Here is a virtual launcher modeled in GGDT: https://i.imgur.com/jaMwUuq.png As it is, w...

Re: How to make an Air cannon sound cooler/louder?

Do you know where they are bought commercially? I'd like to show people that they have an air deterrent project and they need to increase the noise from the markers. If you search for "airsoft amplifier" on places like eBay or Aliexpress you'll find plenty. Other useful key words include "Sound Hog...

Re: Semiauto Nerf Rival with no moving parts.

I've had this issue with o-ring detents and pellets, the head pops through but then the tail gets stuck on the o-ring.

Re: "In the world of spuds today"

Apparently it was a "hot" loaded round, he was very lucky that one of those lugs didn't kill him.

Re: Xtreme-patator

Bienvenu! I'm aiming at 20~30 Joules, to shoot invading nutrias on my pond One little note, we do not discuss shooting anything but inanimate objects on this forum. I made a little HGDT model of your idea wtih a modest chamber of about 100cc volume and a 75cm barrel and... 20-30 Joules? Even at 10x ...

Re: Counter balanced hammer valve issue

There are different configurations for balanced valves, this post should be of interest if you haven't seen it already. Most of them have the opposite problem of not reclosing. The solution for that is the same as the spirit of Hector's suggestion, bleeding air from the transfer port in order to for...

Re: Counter balanced hammer valve issue

There are some commercially available valves as upgrade parts like the Cothran Powerhouse , I had made an animation of how it functions . That particular valve adds a floating element to regulate the "bleed" and therefore valve reclosing, though I'm not sure how much of a difference it actually make...

Re: Interesting stuff from the internet...Huben K1

I recently started looking at this mechanism again and it really is quite interesting. This is the manufacturer's animation: https://i.imgur.com/ufIaLpr.gifv I made my own simplified animation of how I understand it works: https://i.imgur.com/a2DDug6.gif A two-part piston held by a sear seals the br...

Beeman P22 Project

Got myself one of these , the cheap and cheerful variation of the HW 40 PCA made of the finest Chineseium. Shoots about 410 fps with a 7.8 grain Daisy flatheads, very pleasant. http://i.imgur.com/mNitYAHl.jpg Naturally I took it apart :D the plan is to convert it to 0.22" and have it shooting as clo...

Re: Two Italian WW2 helmets found

Nice find! The lack of rim does make it seem like they are paratroop helmets: https://i.imgur.com/hEJdoxC.jpg Worth doing a bit of research as to the exact units involved as to my knowledge it was mostly Alpine troops in this area or operations. Indeed, I hope there is more stuff left on that locati...

Re: "In the world of spuds today"

What will be the next step in airguns? Maybe more pressure to achieve more power, or more autonomy? An interesting thought, one can compare to firearms where in spite of the march of technology, there is little difference between the cartridges fired by the guns used today compared to those used in...

Re: The Offcial Machinist Thread: Revised 01/04/2014

Busy with life so not much in the way of spudding but I did indulge in a bit of lathe time for something a little more artistic for... reasons. Now that I no longer have a laboratory to appropriate concentrated acids from, I tried my hand at salt water etching and while it's not as deep as what I wa...

Re: barrel thoughts

JSR links in 3,2,1... How dare you assume exactly what I was going to do ;) There are precedents for both ideas. Apart from rifled shotgun chokes, having a small rifled sectioned at the muzzle is also the principle behind the FX smooth twist barrel that by all accounts works very well: https://www....
