Re: My first working pengun- ammo questions...

Very cool! interesting to see what performance will look like at high pressure. I never really took them beyond 850 psi, maybe a tiny caliber 4500 psi pengun would be an interesting project... Any way to loosen the barrel, or should I just get new bearings? I would just get the right sized bearings,...

Re: JSR's workshop chronicles

Do you have a threading dial on your carriage? They save an awful lot of pissing about - without one, you need to stop the machine, reverse back to your starting position, feed in a bit, rerun your thread, lather rinse repeat until done, all without disengaging the carriage feed. This puts extra st...

What is the lowest mix i can achieve 3000psi post ignition?
I guessed your chamber dimensions and simulated it in HGDT with a "closed chamber":

I needed 27x before the chamber pressure exceeded 3000 psi

Re: My first working pengun- ammo questions...

Came to see a Penguin That joke is literally as old as the first pen gun  :D When I shot it, I saw orange sparks fly out, and it smelt like smoke... Is that normal?? Lol. Hmmm... from the pen itself? Or the target? Could it be that you had some lubricant in the barrel that ignited from the su...

Re: stainless steel tube burst pressure

I follow his same philosophy, and up to now I have my two eyes and my ten fingers. :D I didn't used to, but I have had a few close shaves, and each time you realize how lucky you were and do things differently next time. Apart from being sure of your pressurized fittings, one thing that applies to ...

Re: Shock absorber spring rifle?

This outbreak really is bringing people back online :D a lot of force needed to compress it though It would probably look like a ratchet mechanism on an ancient ballista. Doubtless an interesting project but on this scale pneumatics are so much more practical in terms of using off-the-shelf materials.

I'm not going to say that connecting a few turns of conductive wire to the spark plug, and a small appropriate battery, is another option because you will fuck me! :o
