Valvegun

My new toy. It shots nerf darts and everything attached to a dart. The Problem with the "uncompressable" venturi mix is solved by some valves. . The first valve is a one way valve operatet by gravity. from there the mix goes in the Chamber. it is coaxial in the T-Piece. there is a 1/2 inch steeltube...

Whats best valving for pneumatics

I have built a nice little 1kg chamber golf ball launcher with QEV valve and slide release, the barrel about 13inches long with bore diameter .5mm windage play with ball. Using a skirted ball from pvc tubing the ball shoots fine at 100psi, twice as far with 200. A bit new to the game and asked many ...

Re: Whats best valving for pneumatics

A piston valve works well, and you can build it yourself. Actually, it is quite simple.

This type of valve releases the air very quickly.

Basic pneumatic cannon

Hi all. It's been quite some time since I've logged on, I like the new site layout! I just realized I only have a thread on my 4L propane cannon and not my pneumatic. Just dug it out of the basement. I will clean it up and work on removing the non pressure rated bell reducer in favor of some bushing...

Re: A look inside the "bleacher reacher" t-shirt launcher

Does anyone have the internal design of the trigger mechanisms for the t-shirt launcher?

Re: Adding Multiple Sparks In Combustion Chamber

What Jack said.

Plus, more than one spark increases the spark gap, that means the gaps need to be smaller if you are going to use the BBQ piezo.

BTW, multiple sparks must be wired in series, not in parallel.

Well hello!

Been away too long. Remembered this site after coming across photos of my old gun MFIC from https://spudfiles.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=25266 - lots of changes in m life from 8 years ago! Time to update the build log with the fate of MFIC.

Re: True formula for flow coefficient

I designed one launcher using a Deltrol 3/4" QEV and their published Cv feeding a tennis ball barrel (SDR21 2.5). Actual performance was about half of predicted, as I recall (it was a very long time ago). I suspect they measure Cv for exhausting an air cylinder (their intended application), and this...

Re: Large hybrid

Good to see you back here. I'm pretty sure Larda still holds the record for the most extreme hybrid, barring the circus man-caliber sized cannon VERA of course. No way anyone passes VERA in the energy category without some serious resources and permits and all kinds of crap. It's a 2X hybrid the siz...

I get what you are saying, I might not get any real velocity gain from it. That being said, the entry fee for evacuating the air from the barrel is low on my setup and i might play with it at a later time.
You owe it to yourself to try :)

Re: Large hybrid

Fantastic shooting area you have there! Yes, once I get the gun mobile and aimable I can do whatever I want. I plan on getting it up to 40x mixes once its more practical, and more if nothing has failed yet. Depends on how much pressure I can get before ignition with a spark gap becomes impractical....
