Re: Caselman air machinegun
You cannot see the blueprints for this weapon in the directions in the first message. Do you have them, Jack, so you can see them? Or else, do you know where they are on the web?

Re: Short question topic
I already understand it. "K" is for multiplying by 1,000.
In this specific case, 1.8K means 1.8 psi x 1000, it is 1800 psi, about 124 bar. Thanks for your answer.

Re: Timed Valve vs Dump Valve for more power and efficiency
Just that. My analogy is with a subsonic turbojet nozzle, which ejects the gas with a lot of pressure in the outlet area of the nozzle, it does not have as much speed or performance as a nozzle that causes the pressure to drop to values close to atmospheric pressure. In the first case, the velocity ...

Re: Xtreme-patator
wow is supersonic!! :o I imagine some of your creations also exceed the speed of sound ;) even though your projects focus mostly on function and not maximum performance. It is possible although I don't really know. I have shot 6mm bb of 0.23gr plastic, with my hybrid gun at 7X, and I think it is mo...

Re: "In the world of spuds today"
Apparently it was a "hot" loaded round, he was very lucky that one of those lugs didn't kill him. That's what he thought, but there was a bit more going on. The sabot material was building up in the barrel, and the signs where there, he did say the shots were going off target and the recoil felt di...

Re: Counter balanced hammer valve issue
I agree with your analysis. This way you won't have the problem, but an o'ring is necessary.

Counter balanced hammer valve issue
Untitled.png So I built a fairly well made counter balanced valve. Exhaust 7mm diameter with 9mm piston. Then I compared it to a conventional hammer valve with 6mm exhaust diameter and a shaft of 4mm. Turns out the balanced valve was weaker. My hypothesis is once the valve is cracked open, the pres...

Two Italian WW2 helmets found
Now I am hooked.. Yesterday I found two Italian WW2 paratrooper helmets on a slope of a local mountain. This region where I live was under Italian military occupation from 1941 until Italy capitulated in 1943. Judging by the shape, I am pretty sure they were manufactured for paratroopers. My grandfa...

Re: Potato Howitzer
sorry for reviving an old thread but maybe there is some kind of update on the current status of this project No problem! I don't check this forum often enough, sorry :-P Here's a follow-up where I did some side-by-side testing with other designs. We tried being somewhat scientific so the last half...

Re: Any official studies of Hybrid Cannons?
This is one of the few examples I remember of a publicly available paper from Utron's contracted government research project for a "Combustion Light Gas Gun" (CLGG) - A.K.A. a badass hybrid that many strived here to get close to. Full paper here: https://apps.dtic.mil/sti/pdfs/ADA462130.pdf There i...
